FX The Crown is still King

Pellets do just fine on my 113 yard home range so don’t have a need for slugs just yet. FX Crown .22 shooting FX 18.1 pellets at 895fps. 60 yards to target. 5 shot groups around the corners with 10 shot groups in the middle. Best 5 shot group was .291 inches and best 10 shot group was .495.

Just my personal likes and no disrespect to others who feel differently in any form . The short set up crowns are the only FX airgun I personally have any interest in at all nowadays including the newer versions released .

If i needed anything for longer ranges The PB has it covered lol . I am like the older version of (Mike) centercut before he switched to centercut 2.0 high performance mode haha ! I am still sticking with pellets still ;)

Nice setup same as mine .
If you dont mind what is your tune like ?
Reg pressures and other adjustments . Thanks Ray
The rifle right now is 125bar reg, 16 on the wheel, IHS is 5.1mm out. Slug port on the barrel, transfer port on high. But like others have said, you have to find what works best for you. My rifle with this barrel and pellet shoots best at 885-900.

Hi,
You didn't say anything about a hammer weight in your tune. My 1st Crown MkII with a 500mm barrel in .177 did not come with a separate hammer weight. In fact, it couldn't accept one as the spring carrier had a long shaft on it that ran inside the spring (See Part D3 in the Crown Schematic). My second Crown MkII with a 380mm .30 (when I bought it used, now has both a .22 and a .177 380mm barrel) came with the High Power Mod and the Tungsten hammer weight. I found I didn't need the heavy Tungsten hammer and had a 12 gram Huma Brass hammer weight laying around, so I put that in. The rifle really likes it. I can tune the rifle with a lower reg pressure and I get much better ES and SD's (like single digit). I am going to put one in my first Crown now.

I should note that the tunes are a lot different with the High Power Mod not just because of the hammer weight, but also because there in a 4 mm indentation in the spring carrier so that it can grip the end of the spring. That means you either have to add 4mm to your IHS to get the same spring compression or have to get a hammer with a 4mm head to make up the difference.
Cheers,
Greg

Haven’t run a full string yet. But I’m guessing 130ish.
FWIW @seangabrell & @Long_Gun_Dallas

I'm getting the same velocity (885-890) using FX 18,1 in a new Crown MkII 22/380 barrel
But I get 80 -85 shots on the factory/dealer tune of REG 150, TP on Hi; HAMMER SPRING WHEEL 9 or 10
Once I pass 1000 rounds I will try to get the courage to make adjustments to the regulator.
And of course, the hammer spring too
