Is 41gr slugs (zan) able to be stable at speeds under 900fps?
I want to shoot heavier slugs and dont know if my crown Will be able too (my superior heavy have not arrived yet).
Out to 150 and 200m.

I dont need to buy anything new, but something in me want something shooting faster even if I dont need it.

So my options is:

1. hope that the crown Will manage it

2. Buy a mav sniper .25 (1600usd)

3. Buy a used M3 .177 (1600usd) and buy a sniper liner kitt .25 (450usd)

3. Buy a king 600mm .25 (2200usd)

Edit: should maybe mention that this is not for hunting or competition, only backyard plinking

Any toughts?

I have no experience with the crown but i've never heard of anyone being able to get their crown to nearly that much power.

I shoot 34gr at 955fps now, sub 900fps is Just i number i tought would be possible with 6gr more
Oh! Okay, So are you asking because you wanna get the 41gr zans? cause that should put you between 880 and 890. I shot the 41 green sands and the 44gr zans out of a different gun and the 44gr boat tails shot better. But obviously that doesn't mean that the 41gr won't stabilize, I've have found that heavy slugs will shoot well from 870fps and up if you have a good tune on it, and that's been my experience with .177 - .30

Yeah I Will try it with the ned liner when it comes first, but if People here ment that its not even Worth trying to get heavy slugs to work under 900fps i would Just skip it.

I don't know. I honestly think that's more luck of the draw type deal. The altaro slugs are supposed to work from 880 and up. I've had success with shooting the 54gr H&N 888fps getting subMOA groups out a 106 yd consistently.

I have both the Crown and Panthera in .22 caliber.

The Crown is my favorite (of many similarly priced PCPs that I own) and would say that it's the ideal general PELLET shooter, pinker, pester and small game hunter with an effective range ( for me, .22/500mm, 18g JSB) out to 60-70 yards. It can shoot farther, it can shoot slugs but IMHO it's designed as a mid-range pellet gun. Its light weight and ergonomics make it a pleasure to carry around.

I'd descibe the Panthera as a long range benchrest SLUG rifle, its weight makes it very stable on the rest. Mine is a .22/700mm that I use for plinking and target shooting out to 128 yards on my backyard range. I know that with .22 caliber that I'm limiting myself (the Dynamic block is easily capable of handling larger calibers) but .22 is all I need, I stock all kinds of pellets/slugs in that caliber and I like the challenge.

I would recommend getting an FX King for the type of shooting, with the slugs you mentioned at the range you are talking about. That's what it's designed for. Personally I think it's kinda heavy for a walkabout/hunting rifle but that's not what you want and some extra weight is a positive thing (more stable) for long range shooting.

I fully understand wanting to do long range plinking ...1 inch spinners @100 yards are a hoot!

You've listed some nice airguns, good luck with your choice!

Cheers!

Oh, and keep the Crown! You will regret selling it!

You can scale up power in any rifle with reg pressure and sufficient hammer energy (at your own risk when tuned above the rifle maker's recommendations). I setup my Maverick at 200bar full time without issues, but there's some little things that I do beyond the scope of what I can write on a forum. My rifle has a real barrel though, so if you're using FX liners then have to deal with the standard FX liner issues for harmonics and tuning with those medium weight slugs at higher pressure.

If you're in the US, then I would ditch the Zans and shoot something that designed and perform better like Griffin RBT slugs with the high speed noses.

My Crowns were best in .22 with 30gn ammo like the H&N slug HP in the subsonic range. I could hit anything at 300m when I was on it.

like above,
id say try what you have before buying a new gun.

my impact never really liked slugs all that much.

if you really want to shoot slugs,
I'd suggest one of the airgun technology guns.

uragan 2 or vulcan 3.

my 2 shoots most slugs well.
but requires a degas to change reg pressure.

they can make big power,
first regulator bump up i made on my uragan 2 600mm
had 36gn slugs going 950fps.

I have owned a Crown MKII 25 in 600mm. Stock it will not even come close to the numbers you want for the 41 gr slugs.
I have a Panthera 25 600mm. Stock, it struggled with the 41 gr Zans. It has been a while since I messed with them but 900 fps was about all it could do bone stock if I recall correctly. I dropped down to 34 gr Zans and the accuracy improved and the gun is not working hard to shoot them at 960.
Heavy slugs ain’t all that

Well, Christmas is here and I have some money burning hole in my pocket so I desided to turn the crown back to .177 pellets and buy me a New slugger, it stands between mav and impact, but one thing i need to know is if I can use my 600mm heavy liner from my crown on any of the mav or imp?
Well, the Maverick will do it but....if you're up in that price range you might wish to consider a Jefferson State. On the advice of Motorhead, I'm flipping switch on one in January.

FX liners are interchangeable between different models, as long as that model supports liners. So yes, you can put the same liner in an Impact, a Maverick and a Crown. If you change calibers, keep in mind the liner isn't the only thing you need to swap out.
