New homemade Benchrest Rifle Rack

Hello everyone,

I decided to build a Benchrest Rifle Rack that would accept any PCP rifle for more accurate target shooting. I wanted it heavy to be super stable but not too heavy so it can be portable. It needed to offer precise “Windage” adjustment and “Elevation” adjustment to make it easy and fast to acquire a bullseye and move to the next bullseye. I also wanted the Trigger area free and clear for easy access and the Butt of the rifle expose to be able for me to shoulder. The photos below show what I was able to complete and very happy with the way it turned out. I shot a few practice targets this afternoon and it is so much better than what I have been using and a whole lot more accurate.

Thank you. The new frame is made out of 1-inch x 1/8" wall steel tube which is super strong for this size but gives me the weight that I wanted for stability. I added four Cork strips on the bottom, one on each corner, to add even more non-slip to the unit.

Thank you, this thing weighs 17 pounds and then you add the weight of the rifle with a scope you are looking to 30 pounds + or -. All of this is really solid and stable on your Bench. I hope to be able to shoot a lot of targets today and give it a good workout.

No . What I did was cut all the crap off a Caldwell Lead Sled ( see photo ) and modify the remaining parts to fit on the new low profile frame that I designed.

Hello everyone,

Completed the latest modification to the Rifle Rack by adding a “Y” Rear Support. This Support will accommodate any rifle that has a Folding Stock, an “AR” stock, or a Tactical style of stock and it is ROCK SOLID. It is very easily removed by simply un–screwing it from the “lower plate” between the tubes and the plate has a nut welded on the bottom side. The upper “V” has clear plastic tube slipped over the round rods to protect the rifle stock. The tube itself acts as an anti-slip that grips the stock and really holds it in place from any movement. The bottom round rod has long enough threads so it can be used to make adjustments up and down to the Support for fine tuning elevation. See the photos of my Niksan Ozark-TW rifle mounted on the Rack and ready for some precision target shooting .

Thank you, it is pretty basic but super stable and really easy to adjust from Bull to Bull and hold on a POI.

Hello everyone,

I built a second Fork for the rear support on the Rifle Rack. This support is a lot shorter and the gap in the “V” upper portion is a bit wider to accommodate typical wood / synthetic standard style of stocks. This is bent to shape 3/8" stainless round rod with a hex bolt welded to the base. I added the clear soft plastic tube over the “V” area to protect the stock and an added benefit is the amount of friction it has to really stabilize the rifle. It is raining outside so I cannot test it, but I will when conditions allow.

Hello again,

Rain stopped long enough for me to shoot one 25-Yard MOA target and this new set up is so solid that I can cock the rifle and not move off the Bullseye . This makes me so happy and it makes shooting a whole lot easier and should be more accurate .

No sir, it still requires all the normal "setting up and aiming and so-on", but once you acquire the Bullseye your "hold" is rock solid. I'm loving this thing , too bad the wind is blowing 25mph and I cannot shoot more.

My hold wasn't rock steady this morning, that's for sure.
