HW/Weihrauch Hw 80 25 cal data?

Hi everyone. Does anyone have any experience with this rifle they could share? What type of pellet shoots well? To what distance are they effective? True velocity of a 20 grsin to 26 grain projectile? Does it have a trajectory like a catapult or only after a certain distance?

I’m considering one but have never tried. Please let me know what you think of them

Thanks

HW80/R1 .25- as far as the Beeman versions go, only came in carbine length (16''). From what I could find out of the box velocities, Ram Point pellets (27.5gr) were tested at about 530fps and Lasers were ~590fps. Mine with a Macarri AT80 kit with about 1 coil removed makes 620fps with FTS pellets so plenty of room for improvement power wise over factory kits are available. According to Chairgun if sighted in at 30 yards, there would be about a 1'' drop from 30 to 40 yards and about 2 1/2'' from 30 to 50 yards (at the 620fps & FTS pellets)...

I have a HW80 .25 cal. Out of the box I had no problem. I installed a Vortek PG2+ spring set from AGS, sounds like old stock. I’ve had nothing but problems. When jacking I feel metal grinding so I’ve stopped using. Hopefully Tom will send a replacement with order I have there now. I haven’t spent the time on this 80 like the others. Ironically it’s one of two out of commission. Crow

Based on my Hw 80 with a light spring set up ,( just about as easy as a Hw95 /R9 ) and minor port work and cup seal doing a butter easy to cock 785 , with 14.6 Ftt. I’d say I could easily get 675 with 20 grain domes. I tested many springs and all big tune kits were horribly over sprung in my opinion. Then again I don’t drop kits ,I rework the gun for its piston stroke, barrel length, piston weight, port size and spring load.
I tested springs from .148 which is factory wire @ 30 coils depending on how you count, to narrower Macarri power springs and Vortek. They both go about it differently and still get results. I saw 835 to 850 14.6 ftt, with my work and those springs

that being said ,,,,they were not pleasant to cock.. nor to my liking. (If I need big game break barrels ,I go to my other long stroke built guns) ,,,

in most of my tuning I’ve seen a 90 to 100 fps decrease going from .22 14.6 to .25 20 grn ftt .. I’ve got a Uk Built hybrid Tommy shooting 25.3 @610 and it’s my 40 yard gun with no holdover sighted at 25 yards

The 30 mm tube will help with not heating the air so fast ,but because it’s a short stroke it’s a real balance game. I’d love to play with a .25 HW 80
they are my new love affair in .22. 😉

How did it shoot factory stock?
Ive considered trying the custom air seals piston seal from Australia and a maccari kit to compare to my pg4 kits.

What weight of pellets did you calculate that with? That’s kind of the range I was thinking for myself. I was considering trying out a couple of maccari kits. Have you tried his piston seals?

If I could get 675 with a 20 grain I would be quite happy.
