How fast for 23 gr. 22 pellets

My Fx m3 compact 500 mm, is now shooting 23 gr. Pellets in 22 cal. At 900 fps. ( it was that way when I bought it).

They are somewhat consistent but get fliers in different places out of say one mag.

i know different barrels like didderent things. Just trying to get a range like 900-950?
or what others have found works best in theirs.

Wanting to go to 100 with accuracy. considering slugs as well.

Thanks in advance!

I shoot H&N 23g HP .217 slugs from my FX Crown with a 380mm STX barrel with amazing results. They are only moving at 780 or so. I have no issues with my personal set up, and expansion doesnt seem to be an issue either although I’d love to move them quicker lol.

If you haven’t tried already, go slower if you don’t mind it and see. I was shooting these at 835fps (my max I could get) and had great accuracy but not like I do now.

sorry for the long winded response but I will end by saying I regularly shoot 50-120y at my permission for sparrow and starling with some great accuracy if I do my part.

Ronne,

Maybe I'm ignorant about FX pellets — but I can't seem to find an FX pellet that has a weight of 23 grain (cf. photo below) — not even close.... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Enlighten me! 😃

The .22x500 barrel/liner is relatively short and could be finicky for tuning. If you don't catch the Dwell precisely you may end up with blow by - and that kicks the skirt at the muzzle. 600 or 700 barrel/liners are much easier to tune.
Finicky is an understatement. It took me forever +1 to get mine to work, some pure luck and some working on bits and pieces of information. I'd love to find that elusive 23gr FX pellet though, it'd be interesting to try.

I did find this one at Trenier Airguns. Which is a JSB Monster.

I have a M3 .22 500mm. You are going to have to push the gun hard to shoot 25.39 pellets. And you will need a different liner. Or you can switch to a 600mm barrel and do it at a lower reg pressure. Another option is to not spend anymore money on the gun and shoot 18gr pellets or something from H&N in the 20gr range. Your gun will do this easily and accurately. Either way, get your credit card back out.

I've never gotten great consistency out of the 25.39gn JSBs in 22 (essentially the exact same pellets as the FX ones you are using). At best, they just shoot "OK" and can be quite frustrating to try to tune.

They just don't seem to stabilize well compared to lower weight offerings. I've largely attributed this problem to the shape when a 22 pellet is basically maxed out in weight, but I have no data to confirm that. When maxed out in weight, the pellets take on the shape of a fat girl trying to stuff into a swimsuit, IMO. Not a great idea for pellet flight.

Just my experience trying to force them to be consistent in probably 5 or 6 different guns. YMMV. I have no doubt some people here love them and can get them to drive tacks.

This has been my experience so far! 2-3 ok then boom 1” left then 1” low etc.
Thx!
