FX FX Impact MKII

I took out my old outdated MKII in .25cal from the safe today. Due to some health issues and work I had not shot this rifle in approximately 15 or 16 months. Both both regs were sitting where I had them set and the NSA 34gr slug hit where I had the cross hairs aimed at 55 yards. Maybe I don't need to buy the latest and greatest after all.

My Impact .25 cal MK2 PP is from Feb.2020. Yes I did a lot of tinkering with it a lot of learning curve tuning in all possible way, worn most of the 3mm screw threads I had to re-thread with inserts... a long story to list.
But so far I have not seen anything woow technically advanced in specs that I would make this rifle my secondary choise.

Mine has been rock solid so far too. Fingers crossed! I have an M3 as well, and I dont think I could choose between the too. I like them both for different reasons and applications. My MKII is setup as a longer range slugger and my M3 is setup for close up walking around with Hades or little slugs.

Hope you are healthy now and have a good New Years.

Mk2 was their best version. Ever notice how many M3’s are for sale.
I get that some people don't like or want the dual regulator setup on the M3 but can someone tell me why the MkII is better than the M3?

By my count, the M3 is better in the following areas:
  • Power wheel has more adjustability
  • Micro adjuster is tool-less and infinitely better
  • Power Block
  • Bigger plenum
  • Ability to put the cocking lever on either of the action
  • Ability to add an angled gauge for easier viewing of reg pressure
  • Front barrel clamp
  • Bigger, more ergonomic cocking bolt
  • Probably a number of internal improvements that aren't widely published
So where is the MkII better again? Of course somebody is going to come in and say that most of those changes can be retrofitted to the MkII but by the time you pay for all of those upgrades, you'd likely be paying more than just buying the M3 outright (and getting a reg 1 delete kit if you are dead set on not running two regs).

Yen, having owned a bunch of both, the MKll is not better than a M3. I’m sure everyone deep down inside knows it. But I guarantee there are a bunch of MKll’s owned by guys on this forum that are better shooting guns than a bunch of guys M3’s. A great shooting gun that easily achieves the velocity required is a great gun. No matter its age. If you don’t need the heated seats, rear view cameras and radar cruise control of the latest model, that’s great. It’s definitely not required. I agree with the micro. It’s a very nice feature versus the tiny allen wrench. But on the flip side, I’m always moving mine when I handle my guns. So I have to write my micro number down. I wish there was a way to lock it like the set screw in the valve knob.

Are the holes in the valveknob used for locking it? I wondered why it was there. It might be handy to lock it once its tuned

That could prove to be problematic if someone is forgetful.

It just shoots and very well indeed.

I was thinking of the Dynamic, or possibly the King.
Yes I understand. I am also watching the new action block for a while. Tinkering about a 200 meter gun, maybe a Pantera? But in couple days there is a 2024, a new lineup is in the pipe. I will wait for snow to melt before I visit my club anyway. The problem I am seeing at my place...the weather calendar is late big time.

Thanks, will order some grub screws for it. Never need to worry anymore if it moved or not
Just don’t crank the set screw. It’s making contact on something important. And that’s why FX probably doesn’t ship guns with them in. Johnny Knobspinner in all his excitement with his new toy would destroy the valve threads.

Havent looked at mine in a while, do you think there is enough room to put a small piece of plastic or rubber under the grub screw? Might be a nice way to secure the knob without marring or damaging the aluminum underneath.

It’s funny how I complain about that issue but never even look to see if I can address it. Sadly my hands are on at least one of my M3’s daily. I am in the middle of a barrel project on one right now and need to test cold shots tonight. Your response inspired me to take a look. I do know that the micro has a set screw and when it comes loose, it doesn’t work.

I think the next time I have each gun apart, they will get a set screw right here.
