Chairgun Elite+

Just discovered the Chairgun Elite+ iPhone app. Just what I’ve been looking for! Highly configurable and HUGE database of pellets and scopes. Highly recommended for long range hunters and target shooters. Personally I’m a target shooter, not a hunter.

I never had Strelock - missed it before it "went away." I do know that Chairgun will link via bluetooth to Kestrel and a few other devices.

There are still some missing features vs Strelok Pro. Most annoying is that's it's a subscription model for the premium features (like choosing a reticle), not a one time purchase.

Man that stinks. I bought Strelock Pro around 10 years ago. I think it was $9.99. Best $10 i have spent on the shooting hobby. I hate subscriptions models.

And now Chairgun Elite+ which I’ll try for a year. One I absolutely refuse to pay for is The Weather Channel!

I see they have another app on the Apple App Store called “Chairgun Elite” for $11.99. Specs show it to be identical to the Chairgun Elite +. I am thinking it might be a one time purchase at that price?

I agree on the value aspect. But that's where this kind of app doesn't make sense to me. There's no publisher resources required to keep it going (servers, infrastructure, etc). There's minimal maintenance (scopes and projectiles). And once it reaches feature parity with Strelok, since that seems to be the goal, then there isn't much else to add. And for $9.99 or even $14.99, feels like it should be a one and done.

Yes Charigun Elite is mostly the same as Strelok Pro was. Missing a few features I'd like to see such as 1) copy a rifle model and 2) rearrange the order of the rifles listed.

Get the $12 version, not the subcription one. They are exactly the same from what I can see.

As best as I can tell, Chairgun, the application that Hawke discontinued, and Chairgun Elite are not in anyway related. Reading some threads on snipers hide, it appears Chairgun Elite entered the market shortly after Strelock was sanctioned. However, there is some speculation that Chairgun elite may be the same strelock developer trying to get around the sanctions. I have no first hand knowledge so this all hearsay.

Or ChairGun Elite is an unauthorized rip off of Strelok. I have both. But I have reservations about using ChairGun Elite for that reason.

The ability to track 4 solutions on one chart in ChairGun 2018 is awesome for tuning comparisons. I don't know why the others don't have a similar feature... or maybe I can't find it in the very poorly organized interfaces of Strelok or ChairGun Elite.

I contacted the developer asking if there's a difference in Chairgun Elite and Chairgun Elite+. They replied "Hello. In general - no differences."

Element Optics has a free app. I haven't tried it yet though.
