It's under "account details" in your profile. Not sure why one is called for — I never see it displayed.

It’s just a photo that comes up when someone clicks on your profile. If you look at mine you will see a photo of a wooded area with a narrow creek cutting through it. The banner even pops up if you click a member’s name without viewing their whole profile.
