HW97k centenary question

Why is the barrel on the centenary version of the hw97k longer than the underlever. Is that a silencer. The normal hw97k underlever and barrel are the same length.

Any difference in sound, twang, power, accuracy between a centenary and normal modern hw97k

older versions had longer barrels (MKI) some 97 long barrels are still made in limited numbers. not a silencer it's a barrel weight, no internal mods to the Centenary that I am aware of.

Have you noticed any difference in performance between the older versions with the longer barrel and the newer versions with shorter barrel

My two .177 MKI's are 25mm vs the KT which is 26mm. The larger piston makes more power.

Well,,In the specs, It states. The 97K has a 300mm length barrel and the the 97 Long has a 440mm length barrel. It looks like the lever is the same length for both. I can't say as to noise because I have never shot a 97 Long,only my 97K. Most of the noise comes from the powerplant. Which is slight and would be the same as the 97 Long. My concern would be with inherit accuracy. It's a fact that the longer the projectile has to travel down a barrel the more time there is for movement to affect accuracy.

I have a 97K and a 77 long , both tuned to 11. something , i think the long is more accurate . I shoot mostly @ 30 yards outdoors or 16 yards under roof ,shielded west side only .

Added 2 more Tyroleans that have been on my wish list for some time. First was an excellent FWB 300 with wonderful grain pattern I posted a few weeks back. More recently I got a very nice Air Arms Camargue .177 with some nice grain also. Seems to be very healthy shooting just a bit over...
