Who's the Crosman expert?

If memory serves me correctly, and now at 70 years-old there's no guarantee of that 😂, in the late nineties Crosman was still in the throes of their classic-to-plastic devolution. So there aren't a lot of Crosman experts that paid much attention to that period in Crosman's colorful history.

Interestingly, they were producing the best field pellets in that period; before a few years later letting their Premiers devolve in quality to the point JSB stole their pellet market. Correction- Crosman handed their pellet market to JSB on a silver platter by producing crappy pellets.

As I wrote in 1998 in The Manic Compressive- "I feel that the reason Crosman Premiers do so well is the fact that, so far, their quality control seems more consistent than others'. I find it quite the bitter irony that the company whose classic airguns are so awesome, but whose current guns I find hilarious, now produce possibly the finest ammo on the planet! Crosman would do well to do well... meaning quality must remain high if you expect to remain on top."

They ignored that advice, so completely surrendered their pellet monopoly. 🤬 Serves them right for not listening to me.

In the early 2000s Crosman began their resurrection back to worthwhileness by entering the PCP foray with good airguns. It took them another two decades to start resurrecting their pellets. It remains to be seen how well they succeed in recapturing some of the pellet market they so foolishly gave away.

What do you need to know?

I’ve experienced great results with the Benjamin 10.5’s

I have too; though I've only shot them in one rifle so far. They out-shoot 10.3 JSBs in my QB/Gauntlet hybrid.

A five-shot group at 50 yards from stool-and-bipod Hunter position with the Benjis measured less than 1/2" c-t-c-

Again shooting from stool and bipod Hunter position the next night, a ten-shot group in light crosswinds with the Benjis printed .65" c-t-c-

10.3 JSBs group 1/8" wider at 50 than the Benjamins.

I'll add that the 10.5 grain Benjamins are beautifully consistent, and are reported to have about a .040 B.C. 🤞
