Alkin Compressor, Any Issues

oil is the most important thing you can do. I change mine 3 times a year.
How many hours do you run yours between oil changes? I only run mine about 5 hours a year or less so that would be overkill for me. Even in a commercial operation once a year oil changes are all that is necessary. When I do my annual oil change it still looks almost as clear as new oil. The most important thing is to use Anderol 755 or Secolube 800 which is equivalent.

I originally had a Daystate Coltri Compressor. After two failures, I was done with it. Was able to afford the Alkin Mariner W31 Vertical Compressor. Have had it for close to a year now. No issues at all. I have never seen anyone write about an issue with the Alkin…
@archerhmr What type(s) of failures did you experience with your Daystate/Coltri? I’m also curious as to how many hours you put on your compressor annually.

Biggest issue i had was finding out that the wrong sized crescent wrench was listed in the owner’s manual to remove the bolt in order to change the oil and spilling a little used oil when changing the oil.

On the Coltri, twice it blew gaskets on the head.
The Alkin, I generally run it weekly for 30 minutes. I warm it 15 minutes before adding air and also do a good cool down. My instruction book shows to run it 2 hours a month when in storage. So I make sure it is run two hours a month. It is assuming that you run it way more than what most home users do. When I visited the Alkin store and told them what I was doing, they were happy with my scenario.

That's really helpful info, thanks @archerhmr . I suspect a lot of us here wouldn't run a compressor 2 hours a month normally. I know I do not.

my coltri mch 6 has been trouble free, 3 yrs , 20hrs on the meter, not much ,,, but the mch3 models have some history of problems,, how many or how much troubles compared to total sales of that unit is unknown to me, but the news of any scares folks, when shelling out $$$
all I have done is oil changes, I aim for an annual change as I do not get to the hrs on it like a shop or a heavy user does
I am in western Nebr, pretty dry here so I have not change the desicant,,, yet, but the time is coming
