I was wondering if every part on the oco labs compressor will work and fit on the shoe box compressor they look very identical
I contacted him and he said the only parts different is the piston and air lines but he said he can make some for the shoe boxNo, not even close. The Oco Labs unit is actually an "extractor" and not just a compressor. There is a lot more to the Oco Labs unit than just the base compressor, and most of the parts they sell are for that.
About half of the compressor itself functions the same as the Shoebox, and those parts work, but only one of the two cylinders is the same so we can't source all the wear parts from there. Bottom line, Oco is better than nothing for parts, but is not a complete answer to keeping our Shoebox compressors running . . .
I have bought a few spares from them to have on hand, but not everything I would like to get. That's why I ended up buying a whole second working Shoebox compressor when I had the chance to do so.
The motor, pulleys, drive belts, crank arm and linkages are all the same (the Pulley is the same as the F8 pulley, not the original or F10), and I think one of the cylinders uses the same o-rings and spacers but that the other does not (I'm not 100% sure on that though - have not bought them from them). And as Mike said there are other differences that prevent one from doing a full rebuild of a Shoebox with their parts.I contacted him and he said the only parts different is the piston and air lines but he said he can make some for the shoe box
He told me very o ring in his super c/shoebox will workThe motor, pulleys, drive belts, crank arm and linkages are all the same (the Pulley is the same as the F8 pulley, not the original or F10), and I think one of the cylinders uses the same o-rings and spacers but that the other does not (I'm not 100% sure on that though - have not bought them from them). And as Mike said there are other differences that prevent one from doing a full rebuild of a Shoebox with their parts.
But the main thing is that you asked "if every part on the oco labs compressor will work and fit on the shoe box compressor" and probably up to half of the parts in their parts list are unique to their product, which is sold as an extractor and not a compressor, and aren't even used on the Shoebox compressor.
Like I said he told me could make me the piston and cylinders and air lines if I need them he said those are the ONLY 3 parts that aren't the sameProbably true - but insufficient . . .
Compare the pictures closely - lots of similarities, but also lots of differences where it matters. Summing it up:
1) The Extractor has two cylinders but they are connected with a "T", meaning that it is single stage not a two stage
2) The Extractor has no 0.25" cylinder, which is the first stage in the Shoebox (and thus Oco has no parts for this stage).
3) the Extractor 0.125" piston is shorter - the the cylinder different inside/outside too (we don't know)
4) The Extractor air lines route completely differently, including out the air block and up and out the unit on the top left, to the completely unique stuff on top.
5) The Extractor has a third "rail" of sorts that the piston support block slides on, making it very different.
6) The pressure switches are very different. as the opporating pressures are different.
We know the 0.125" o-rings and spacers work in the Shoebox, and the drive stuff looks compatible (I bought the crank arm, and it looks the same).
But believe what you want . . .

He said the cylinders custom made from for the shoebox is 110$ eachWell, I guess I kind of missed that . . . the 0.25" spacers would probably be the most needed one, as other than the o-rings these are a true wear part that needs regular replacement (something like every 5 o-ring replacements or so), so if somebody needs them and does not have them they are out of commission.
I expect custom versions of the other parts would be pretty expensive - his regular cylinder that he stocks is ~$110, so I expect a custom one for the Shoebox would approach double that . . . but at least they are available. Thanks for that info.
Wow! That's awesome . . .He said the cylinders custom made from for the shoebox is 110$ each
They don't join up in the Box main block - the input flows into the first stage, then the output of the first flows into the second stage, and the output of the second stage flows into the lower part of the main block as a separate high pressure area. As just confirmed in the original Shoebox main block you sent to meThe other wear parts are the Piston Support Stanchion bushings. The .25" is not a problem, I have found those, the .125", I have no idea what to call them, so can't locate any.
I suppose in time, the backcheck brass pieces would also need replacing from wear.
As my above post stated, I have found everything else but those parts. They may be available, but some parts I just don't know what they are named.
The air lines and fittings are also available.
I'm not sure that I follow the 'teed' air lines being a single stage as the Box joins them via the Main Air Block anyway??
