Is there Night Vision with LONG Eye Relief (for Pistols)❓

What about a clip on in front of a pistol scope? Going to be heavy if you intend to hold it out front like a pistol.

Joe,

I didn't think of that, thanks.

Probably didn't think of it — because the front clip-on's are so expensive (vs. the rear clip-on's).

Only long eye relief NV would be the DS35/night-stalker-4k. If you are talking about the gk1 there are a few mounting options depending on your version. I specifically looked for a v3 with the front adjustment screw so I can get the aluminum rail on top. First one is not mine but showing you can use the dovetail if needed. Second is mine with the zulus and rail.

Thanks for the input! 👍🏼

I went on the Pard site, but could only find it to have a eye relief of 4" (100mm).

That might be a lot by night vision standards.
But by rifle scope standards, 4" is just about normal.
And by pistol scope standards, a scope with 4" wouldn't qualify..... 🤔

Still looking! 😊

Brawler and Paul, I have tried a rifle scope on a pistol, and for the shooting scenarios I use this rig, it's great! (PP700 with Discovery VT-3 3-12x44 FFP). 👍🏼

However, the GK1 was not going to be another pistol getting used like a rifle — I bought this pistol to shoot it as a pistol. And my preferred shooting scenario for the GK1 would be rats. Hence, the NV long eye relief question..... 😃
I also have gotten a dot sight — but I am realizing that older eyes like more magnification 🤦🏻‍♂️ — and dot sights with unlimited eye relief normally have 1x only (I'd love to add models to my list).

Matthias,

I have tried to find an NV/thermal unit for my GK1 to use as a pistol also. The only one I found close enough was the Sig Sauer Echo3. But between high cost and poor reviews, I decided to save my money. I just have a red dot on mine with a 1mm dot and it works great to about 45 minutes after sunset! I do have a stock and a forearm for the GK1 but then I have rifles that are already setup for night work anyway. The GK1 is just great as a grab and go and the range and accuracy always makes it my fault if I miss!

It's a little much to put on a pistol, but it would work. Thermal red dot hybrid.

They also have an IR version with an integrated emitter.

Delooper,

now that is one ridiculous overkill on a pistol!
And with rat trap prices hovering at the 1 dollar range — that is a most STUPID way to go about killing rats.

I really like it!! 😃

🔸 This is what a customer said on the Q&A part of a sales webpage:
Q: "Is this any good for rodent control? Typically 50 yards and under."
➔ A: "Most definitely, this is a bit overkill for that but I'm sure you'll enjoy." 😆

For the benefit of anyone else looking at this, here are some of the relevants specs — for both the night vision version and the thermal version of the Holosun DRS:

🟠 Holosun: DRS-NV (day-night NV dot sight)
[DRS = digital rifle sight]

Eye relief = unlimited!
Dot size = 2 moa
Recording = up to 60fps NV
Magnification = 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x digital(!) zoom
Battery time = 6h in full run mode
Reticle adjustment = Capped, 0.5moa/click

Price = $1176 MRSP | $1000 Midway, B&H, Brownells, etc.
Link:

🟠 Holosun: DRS-TH (day-night thermal dot sight)
[DRS = digital rifle sight]
[TH = thermal]

Eye relief = unlimited (I assume!)
Dot size = 2 moa
Recording = up to 50fps NV
Magnification = 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x digital(!) zoom
Battery time = 20h

Price = $1882 MRSP | $1600 at Midway, B&N, etc.

Yeah, I think it's a really interesting development. It's not quite what I want but I suspect there will be variations on the idea in the coming years. By that I mean, scopes and red-dots with "heads up" overlays of non-standard spectral data.

The kind of changes I'd like to see would be like:

A) remove all the recording options to make the unit lighter and smaller

B) have some scope versions, like some 3x and 6x prism scopes, and a variable-magnification version.

C) have some simple switches on the device that add various rapid filters to the spectral data: cutting out blue light, cutting out near IR or thermal, etc.

I can totally see myself buying a unit like this, eventually. But I'll wait until the technology is a little more mature.

There's some excellent Youtube reviews of this device. One of the best feature is the "outline" feature where it traces outlines of your thermal targets. So if a person walks through your field of view you literally see a stick-man on the screen. . . or something a bit more like Homer Simpson.

I have a related thread: https://www.airgunnation.com/thread...future-optical-thermal-hybrid-scopes.1308251/

I heard about the Holosun NV & Thermal dot sites but was unaware they were going to have digital zoom.

I have an astigmatism & have not found a dot site that works for me. If I view the dot through the camera on my phone the dot will appear crisp. Does anyone know if the same would occur when using digital zoom?

A day/night dot site that goes up to 8x & has unlimited eye relief does solve some problems for me. And creates problems for the rabbits.

I might need to call a retailer today.

Agree with the other poster who mentioned the appeal of a stripped down version of one of these.

I don't know the answer to your question. I'd try to find a dealer and see if they'd let you try it out first.
