RAW Rapid RAW and FX regulator combination for improvement

Just like I have installed a semi balanced valve, opening into atmosphere resulting into low hammer hit and adjustability of valve travel externally, now I plan to take good features from RAW and FX Impact regulators to make a better RAW regulator that would be longer lasting with respect to its sealing contact points.

Following is the pic of adjuster of FX Impact regulator adjuster. You can see that the contact area is not sharp rather it is like a half moon. It seals very well with delrin and increases the life of delrin seat.

On the other hand in RAW regulator the metal contact surface is much sharper. We can make a new pin disk with the shape of its tip just like the tip of FX regulator adjuster screw.

This will allow to use the delrin seat in RAW regulator and the life of the seat would be much longer.

Following is the pic of RAW disc tip which I want to redesign.

I understand that this combination of both worlds would result into a much better regulator, specially as the seat of RAW Regulator is surrounded by brass due to which the delrin cannot extrude as much as it can in the case of FX.

I personally have made regulator adjusters for my FX Impact in which the delrin seat is surrounded by the brass and it proves much better than original piston.

I am too much busy in my office work and so far the regulators of my RAW guns are working fine.

When I will need to rebuild in future, I plan to apply this idea.

Issue with Delrin & Acetals is they are semi soft and have a squish to them, this has then seal against a hard seat well enough, but the lets say springiness has them no where as crisp in opening/closing to say a Peek poppet.
Same thing applies if a Regulator seat or a Poppet .... The harder seat material will break free and close with a higher degree of precision.

Just sharing thoughts here :cautious:

Dear Motorhead,

Although we never met and never communicated much, but I learn from your posts.

You are a professional tuner while I do it as my hobby.

Logically what you have said I agree 100% but after I have made improved piston for my FX Impact, I am witness that the regulator comes back in around 1.5 seconds and stays there for many days. Only the temperature makes a few bars of change in pressure.

In Impact we often re tune it and the adjuster screw moves a bit in 360 degree but still after a few shots it again becomes as consistent as it was.

My experiment with RAW regulator might not prove to be successful but after having the results from Impact piston, I still feel that it should not be an issue rather it may be an improvement.

I don't intend to make any comparison between what you have advised and what is my experience.

I understand that sometimes practical things prove to be a bit different than our logic.

I have peek valve in my Impact too as it is a better option. However, considering my experience of FX regulator, I can conclude only if I got time to do what I intend.

With due apologies I hope you will take it in positive sense.

Regards,

Bhaur
