Griffin Airgun Ammo

.177 14 grain.
Wondering if anyone is shooting these. And what speeds are you shooing them at?
I’ve seen a couple people on YT using them with excellent results.

Not sure about the .177 variants, but @$p00kygH0ST has been shooting the .22 17gr around low to mid 800fps and getting excellent expansin along with accuracy. Could you post a pic or two of the slugs?

Anything above 740 gets it warping and expanding. Anything above 800 opens it up, above 825 gets mushroomed.. 920 is the max I've pushed one this far. I have a DRS and Barra250z currently on the way, I plan on using the 19 Or 21gr LDC at insanely high velocity as my main projectile for squirrel and rabbit. I know the Drs will be fine as the superior 1:24 groups them better than pellets in my notos and crown. I'm a definite believer.

I've checked out the selection of slugs for Griffin in 177 and does don't have LDC balls in them. I'd like to think that they still expand a lot, but their HP isn't too big from the looks of the website.

Im an idiot. I thought you were asking me. Didnt realize wanted the 177. I don't imagine there's enough room. I think the poly ball in .22 is damn near 3.5mm that leave walls so thin in a 177. Even though the LDS are way longer than comparable slugs of their weight.

Let me know if you do try the 177 of other types form Griffin. Id like to try some in my Huntsman.

Let me preface this by saying I’m no highly trained, well practiced shooter. I haven’t sent thousands of pellets down range. Just an ole farm hand that grew up in rural USA. And then small town USA. So I hunted. I pested.
Well I’m happy with my first 10 shot group with these 14 grain Griffin slugs @ 15 yards. I pulled a couple of the shots. Other wise they would have all fit under that 1/2in red dot I placed over the group.
The gun is a new Gamo Swarm Magnum .177
I’m getting the Chronograph out for the next groups.
This makes 70 shots through the factory grease.
Time to clean the barrel good.

Yeah man. They freaking shoot, literally group like JSB heavy. It's unbelievable.

Just ordered today the entire huma air Slug power kit+ mk2 high flow transfer port, for the DL. Excited to see what difference the ability to actually use the higher pressures can do. I'm really just waiting to get 65± fpe out of 30/32gr slugs and heavy mk2s. Hoping that the .25 LDCs do better at higher speed.

So far in .25 ZAN,H&N and VK seem to be the kings of mid 800s stability.

As for .22 Griffin holds the crown.

.177 we'll see. I ordered some today along with my 17 and 19 .218 LDCs

Nice! I'm honestly surprised the game shot them as good as they did, and the fact the group could've been better. Looking at those slugs they look huge in the picture for being .177 just for a show of comparison this is what the VK .178 look like.

These are the 13.5gr .1778 or 4.53mm the hollowpoint is 4mm deep and the projectile is close to 7mm long, or about as tall as a .22 cal 23gr javelin slug.

The 18.5gr is even longer and has a deeper cavity, over 4.5mm, mind you the inside of the HP is over 2.5mm closer to 2.7-2.8mm

I ordered some Griffin 13, 14, and 16gr to try out in my p35x, they should hopefully here by Monday or Tuesday.

I definitely need to order more variety like you did. Then single load each of them to see which one fits best.
I also want to try some of these in Dish base. VS the Cup base that I shot this time.

Yes! For .177 there's about 4 different sizes that you can find.

.1771 - Dale from Varmint Knockers makes.

.1775 - H&N, and JSB.

.1776 - by Zan.

.1778 Also Dale from VK also makes and NSA

Now, I've read that the 12.5gr from NSA actually measure .181, rather than .1778, I'm not sure if that was just an oversized batch of it that is the true size but that's what I read on 2 reviews.

I have had issues with NSA and I suspect inconsistent sizing 2175 17.5.

First 2 boxes I got were dead on. Every single box since shotgun patterns
