Fixed it with new cocking levers and it now will cock.

so, the arms need some lube and these have not seen any in forever
now do i think we as owners grease the arms from time to time, i do not
but this should show what can happen when dry metal rubs to the point of galling
now the question is at what point--number of pellets through the pistol does this happen--i would think a whole hell of a lot
so, you just google the topic and the lights come on to the gall issues but on many of the HW products
when metal rub together, grease it a LITTLE
the reason i did say piston is this old motorcycle rule, if you change the chain you have to change the sprockets

Wow, thanks for posting, how many pellets would you say have been shot through the pistol for that to happen? Mine is probably 15 years old and I have not had any issues. Although if I had to guess I have probably fired 4000 pellets through mine. Changed the piston seal and spring last year and didn’t see wear like that. I did lube them with a bit of spring tar at the time. If that is wear from a tonne of use I would see it as a badge of honour. If not as mentioned look into other possible issues.

I thought that but I got a hatsan brake barrel 25 sc that I used and abused in its life and there's showing lots of ware. Even cleaning and freshened up lubes / whatever it still fades away as I go . One day it's just going to pop all loose .

Still being hw steel I'd thing it takes more then normal even everyday use to bring one down all that way .

Good thing is getting the replacements and now after you get them in to your satisfaction you can monitor the new part s ware and tare and see if something deeper is the cause

I bought this HW45 used, so I do not know the full history. Prior owner is not sure on shot count.
I think he may have not went straight in line with the upper during the cocking process.
Side to side pressure while cocking may have been the source of the force ?
I may have to get a compression tube in the future if the two slots show more wear.
( it is now all lubed with moly grease, it was not when I received it )

I also had a P1 purchased from Beeman in 1988 and stupidly sold in 2020.
Never had any problems with P1.
