Hill dry pack pro silica refill.

just did a hill dry pack pro silica change.
last one was done in august 2024.
so after about 3 months.
area i live in is considered high humidity area (long island) not to mention the pump (hill evo ec-3000) is placed in a basement.
got a little quiz for u guys,
can u tell which one of these medicine refill bottle caps contain new silica and which one has old?
comments are welcome.

If it's not color changing silica you'll never know without special equipment.
Do you have a cotton pre filter and is your compressor indoors?

Yes I do have those little 5 tiny mesh type discs and then small micro fiber filter inside the tube,
and yes it’s been indoor in the basement since day one.

Slightly darker. It’s hard to tell but the used stuff is always slightly darker

You could tell with an accurate scale too - the used stuff will weigh more since it has adsorbed the water vapor. Just make sure you are comparing the same volume of beads - personally I'd use an amount more like the pill container full rather than the cap, but it would work.

IMO, the left are more symmetrical and I don’t know what that means.

I used to own a hill mk4 pump. You can not tell which is old or new since color doesn't change to those stock beads. Thats why I used the drydry blue beads. They will change to light pink letting me know when it's time to change.

the one that hill pump guys are selling are not gel based,
they are more like clay material!!!

They drydry beads are more like hard plastic. The stock beads that comes with the hill pump are like clay. Both are designed to absorb water so doesn't matter which you choose. I just go with the drydry beads cause they will change color to let you know when it's time to change it. Also the cray beads that comes with the hill pump have like dust/powders that can get into the pump. The drydry doesn't so I prefer that instead.
