FX Impact M4 Sniper

This is a followup to my previous post about my experience with FX. I purchased a new gun and received a very defective gun. It was a terrible experience. I finally received a new replacement gun and it is defective as well. Unbelievable to get 2 back to back defective guns. The new replacement gun leaks the pressure out of the cylinder. The shop I bought it from suggests that I spray soapy water in several places to detect the leak. Anyone out there have any suggestions for me? Im pretty disgusted with this total experience and am disappointed in the investment I made into this PCP world. It's hard to understand how FX gets the reputation of being the best but I can't seem to get the support I need to get a properly functioning gun. Are there classes to take on the disassembly, repair and reassembly of these guns? If so,are they any good?
Thank you all for the feedback to my prior post. I appreciate all. Merry Christmas to all.

What do you mean defective? Seem like you are saying it's leaking? I wouldn't call that defective. All pcp will leak. If you are planning to own an pcp you should learn how to take it apart to clean and reseal cause they will leak. When I got my m3 it was a small leak overnight. I spray soapy water and found it was leaking from the bottle guage. I took it off and replace the o-ring and now it's holding air. You just need to find the leak and it's a easy fix as replacing a o-ring

They're not for everybody. They aren't exactly fully tuned and ready to rock out of the box either, but they'll shoot well. The raw hmx1000 might be more of what you're looking for to pluck it from a box and shoot it as recieved. Fx stuff I approach as potential in a box, theyre for the tuner. That said a bottle leak is an easy fix and most orings are ez to do. I've not had one fail for a reason aside from myself.

Look up all the Ernest Rowe stuff on youtube, there's plenty of info out there to search for in "master class" disassembly The m4 isnt too different from the m3, it's just got a little different top rail attachment and a deleted regulator.

Before you bought did you happen to read about what fxusa was doing, and did to fx Sweden and that utah airguns JUST got handed the responsibilities fxusa had? Theyre breaking ground on a new building.

Your gun shouldn't leak when you get it, but i wonder who you bought it from because utah airguns checks all this stuff. Pcp is significantly superior to springer inaccuracy and pumping, but it comes with a learning curve and it's own set of issues. Be safe and be aware. NO hydrocarbon lubes in pressurized areas.

The learning curve seems crazy but it smoothes out. I'm happy to help of you have questions. I'm a perpetual tinkerer.

If you don’t want to tinker: return it and buy a ghost. If you’re ok with learning the gun and tinker with it, do as suggested above, there are tons of videos on YouTube dealing with the impact, in particular Ernest’s are worth it. Once you get an impact to the point you want it it’s awesome. So is a ghost though and getting a ghost to shoot awesome is fairly easy. On the other hand, Impact can be tuned/adjusted in an infinite number of ways, ghost is more limited in that regard.

I don’t know where you got the information that FX is the best but that must be why you bought one. I have them and I have a bunch of other best brands. The other best brands offer a way less complicated PCP life. I would suggest you return it and opt for another best brand of gun. Then you can enjoy shooting instead of screwing around.

The only thing they do best is the barrel liners imho.... Assuming we don't have a batch of 25 or 177 duds. They have the potential to be the best, but that's end user tuning and modifying. What is "best"? As agn would have me believe lately, the cheapest thing that makes 55 ft lbs and requires no tuning, and can shoot a 2 inch group at 30 feet 🤣. No shade directed at op. I'm getting reality checked that fx is too complicated for a larger percentage of folks than i assumed.

My opinion to share with OP...
FX assembles these guns with very minimum pressure in the tank - as per shipping regulations - only to keep the orings in place. And the shipment is travelling on skids probably several weeks before gets to a Dealer.
The Dealer then airs them up at the point of sale.
This not necessarily means the Dealer will test these without your consent.
You can call me picky or whatever you want but if I buy something expensive I want to see the box opened in front of me only. I don't buy opened boxes if cost more then $50.
I bought two guns the Dealer asked me do I want they can test it for me before I walk out the doors? I gave them to test it once the very first gun, the second one I opened myself. No airguns got ever back to Dealer Service, I wanted to learn and do everything myself.
I bought my last Yamaha sportbike from a store only - they had it still in a crate.
Me personally I won't allow others hands on stuff I am buying.....

And btw, the FX Impacts not for everyone, just to let you know.

Spot on, I bought an impact m3 sniper when they came out so I could mess with every aspect. I've stumbled across some cool tunes and setups along the way and always changed them. It's now my California rule bending rimfire analog now, not even good for backyard plinking. I am one of those guys that can't help but mess with perfectly good stuff and re tune, make custom parts, push the gun farther towards it's mechanical limits..... That's not for everyone as I'm learning. Impacts are complicated. A maverick /wildcat is simpler to mess with. I just remembered my buddies maverick had a similar bottle leak. Just a loose fitting. I've had tunes that could shoot 5 different projectiles with different power wheel settings and share identical trajectories in my needed ranges. Changed it to chase 22 long ballistics (not long rifle)

Crc aerosol leak checker makes it easier than windex or soapy water too btw

While not necessarily defective, it should NOT have a leak straight from the box. You should do as stated above and send it to UA under warranty.
Seems that the shop you purchased it from is not a 'fix it' shop and not willing to take the incentive to correct the issue, crappy service, sales only shop. It's not up to you to find a leak, it's up the seller or warranty to do so.

Personally, I have owned 7 FX rifles, 2 Impacts, 3 Wildcats, a Bobcat and a Boss. All 7 came flawless, no leaks no scratches and each one shooting .5-inch groups at 50 yards out of the box. Until you understand how to tune and operate them you shouldn't try to. That said if I did receive a gun with a leak or other problems, I would send I'd back.
