.22 15.89g Hades vs. 4 ft Iguana 🦎

All set up and dailed in with the iguana rifle. Clean shot in and out. Iguana dropped in place and didn’t even take a step.

I took one about that same size just about an hour ago. On my pool deck at about 18 yards. Unfortunately my first shot was just behind the ear and he slowly started walking away. Second shot was just behind the eye and that was it. My iguana gun is a Notos with JTS 18.1 diabolos. I need a better iguana gun :). Great shot!

I had been running 18.1s up until this morning and wanted to revisit the Hades 15.89s. Bit more speed and it was straight through the brain. I just picked up a Notos as well but I haven’t finished setting it up and dialing it in yet. I like to make sure (as much as possible) that I always drop em in 1 shot. I can’t speak for many guns, but I love FX. Super accurate, easy to shoot, easy to tune. Maybe I got lucky, but mine is great.

So do you even need a permit for these things, or is it open season? I'm wondering if I came down for a vacation and brought some guns if I'd be allowed to pop a few?
No seasons, and technically no open shooting on then wherever you want. You can on your own private property, and you could do it along canals with a lot less hassle. Given that there has been numerous accidents with people just shooting without disregard for any one and have hit cars or people's property while doing so. Canals are usually only to be hit if you're working the community surrounding it and you call Local dispatch to let then know what you are doing, if you go with a guide.

But yes, you can shoot them all year long, they are an invasive species and you do not need a hunting permit, shooting permit or anything. You do need to check the local city ordinances to see which ones are okay with shooting air guns, because not all of them are.

Thanks! Some of the companies if seen on YT say they make 6 figures a year doing this. That's almost worth moving down there to do it. Hurricanes and stupid high humidity year round are some turn offs lol.

Yeah, those companies have been doing it for a long while. Not including my security side gig, I make almost 6 figures, but cost of living down here is high. This is barely enough for a family of 4 with expenses.

Yeah FL definitely has its ups and downs. I have a great job and have been hoping to do this on the side for some extra $. Most are established, but these critters are making their way North. They can’t go too far because they need the warm South FL climate, but they are definitely making their way up to Central FL. I met a guy last year who did this full time now, so there’s definitely possibility and potential. I’m just hoping to get into some high end communities and take out as many as possible and make some side money 🤑

Crazy how a lot of pictures don't give these lizards sizes true justice. Great shot!
Yeah, to be fair this one wasn’t really “big” and was 4 foot from tip to tip. I work on a golf course and we have some true monsters out there. This one wasn’t nearly big enough to classify as large, but it had a nice orange dewlap on it so it was certainly mature enough to justify the shot.

I hear ya, I'm surprised you found it on the groud to begin with. Most are in the trees, and if they're on the ground they're just trying to mate.

Yeah, the iguana removal market is REALLY saturated with people atm, the potential to make the money is certainly there but GD there's a lot of companies out there. We work from Jupiter to Miami and are thinking about expanding North a bit more, as well as West, but we're getting so many calls where we are it may not me in our best intsrest to expand at the moment.

I simply shoot the ones that wander into my backyard. There are canals everywhere around me, and the one I drive by everyday has many out at the right time of day. But there is a sidewalk and it's a relatively busy neighborhood road. One of my dogs ate iguana poop and was sick for almost a week, what a mess. Twice. So I have a personal vendetta. And I'm very competitive so I had to measure the one I got today ;-) Like I said, about the same size:

Yep! Looks a lot like the one I got today also. And similar story as far as dogs go. I had one in my backyard eating plants, poopin all over my yard and that’s what made me want to start pushing back. That and my seawall next to my house had been severely damaged by them resulting in my fence collapsing. They are destructive little bastards. And I guess we are their only real predators.

Coyote urine and Raccoon urine work in keeping them away. Just so you know.
