Crosman Crosman 2240 PCP Please check this build out need your thoughts.

Im looking into purchasing a Crosman 2240 that has the following mods. I dont really know much about 2240s but I really like the idea of having a very powerful PCP pistol. This is what it has and I would like a price estimate on how much I should pay if possible? Thank you.

2,400 psi Safepack from froggys airguns. -Custom milled-OEM iron sight compatible steel breech, with dovetail rail system.
-Hard hammer spring, AND pin.
-BOSS valve. -Enlarged transfer port.
-14 inch barrel to accommodate the safepack.
-Lightened trigger -OEM Crosman stock.

Seller said that the pistol operates best at 1500psi! is that normal? Seller also said it can shoot three rounds before having to fill is that also normal? image attached. Thank you.

Those are some pretty pricy upgrades and I don't know how much the selling price is.
At the risk of being shunned by other members, I'll say this....
I consider those Crosman guns as "lego" guns.. that's because there are so many ways they can be configured to suit your needs/wants.
Half the fun of that platform, for me, is the "tinker factor". I love building them then taking them apart to build something else over and over again.
The downside is... once you invest in all those aftermarket parts, you will NEVER get your investment back. That gun has alot of those aftermarket parts already on it.. that is the value in it for me. Perhaps you can contact the seller and ask if he would include all the original take off parts in the deal. That would give you a nice parts bin to build other "lego" guns from.
That said, what is your intended use of the gun? Will it fill that nice as is?

so, seller is asking $280 for it. I might be able to request all original parts. Im thinking of tethering the 2240 with my large air tank. that way I have multiple shots instead of the 3 that is being advertised. The plan for this 2240 is smallbore silhouette at 40 and 50 yards. What would be the estimated value of the upgrades? Thanks.

I looked into that safepac, Apparently you don't need to pin the valve as the safepac is technically an extension of the valve... Therefore no pressure is pushing against the valve, aside from internal pressures if I understand it correctly.

Crosman 2240XL- $115
Safepac ~$80 or so
14" barrel - $15
$210 give or take

The valve work can be done by anyone with a drill, a 9/64" bit and a little patience. This will match the valve exhaust and barrel port to transfer port bushing diameter. You could go 11/64" bit and custom transfer port bushing or ice maker tubing, but that little extra potential fpe isn't worth extra sealing headaches for the average joe... Or maybe it is. I dunno.

Lightened trigger spring is easy, clip a coil maybe a coil and a half. Get a spent .22LR casing to use as a spring guide.

As for the hammer spring, a 13xx spring is stiffer than a 2240 spring, if you need more source a disco/maximus spring or shim 13xx spring with a 6mm bearing...

I'm a tightwad, this is the route I'd take. If buying from someone else, maybe $250 at most. Others might have different opinions, that's fine. At $300+ there are other options that are factory stock with warranty... Hatsan Jet can be had for ~$210 if searched around for. Don't know if it's "better" or not

thanks for the break down. Makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

Also you do not know how competent the work was done , just saying .

Yeah not my cup of tea, there are so many different ways you can do this but the costs are way up there. Its not regulated so what are the chrono numbers? 1500psi is not bad, did it stay 177? I love my 2240 frankengun but have way more in it than the above for good reason. How consistent is it? Whats the accuracy like? Questions Id want answered before I offered, me personally. You may end up getting something you cant use for silhouette confidently.
To each his own though. Good luck either way.

Unfortunately, BGarney is right, you'll never get the investment back, that's what the seller is trying to do, can't blame him, but $200.00 shipped is the MOST I would consider paying.

On another note, I have a 2250 build I'll never get my money back on, and you know what? I don't give a rat's ass - I didn't put it together to sell it - it is as close to perfect as one of these type builds can get. I get a lot of satisfaction knowing I put it together and the aftermarket parts I picked have a lot to do with how well it performs.

You guys type faster than me, Lol

I was thinking, they very well may have $280 or more invested into this, depending on how much they paid for various parts (that valve and breach could add to estimation). Unfortunately when it comes to resale value, you rarely get your investments back. In my opinion $200 is a generous offer, if they decline no harm done. You could build one yourself, look for something cheaper or just buy a factory production pcp.

I do not know much about those mods. All of mine are extensively modded, but remain C02 guns. That sight does not look to me like an "OEM" sight or any that Crosman offered, at least during the time when I was working on mine. I do not know much about PCP types, but only 3 shots before it needs refilling does not sound good.
