FX Ranchero help needed.

I purchased this Ranchero as a project from JaceSpace1369 as a project he had as a project from someone else. 🤪

Super stoked, always wanted a Ranchero. Thanks Jace!

So, the issue. Hammer weight on the front is chewed up and velocity is all over the place, cocking is crunchy. Hammer was replaced before I got it but it just happened again.

I pulled it apart and cleaned everything up so I could have a bit of a baseline. Cocked smooth but same issues.

Took it back apart and the hammer I had just polished was chewed up. With perfect thread marks. Looking down the action I see there is a bolt running down and next to the valve stem. I see no reason for this bolt. It isn’t holding anything. Thinking the OG owner put the wrong one in?

The bolt lined up.

Second question. Is this cocking pin pressed in? Would like to remove it so I can fill clean out and debris. I see no set screw holding it in.

Third question. I need to get at the valve, it started leaking. Is there a screw I need to remove under this brass plug? Gun is empty, can I just unscrew the tube?

Thanks 🙏. Looking forward to getting this old girl back up and running.

I wonder if that shipping bolt has been screwing things up since the gun was new
Good move asking Jason.
He's helped me more than once

As much as I've no answers to your specific questions, but you might find these 2 links useful.

Hope this helps

100% the issue . Guessing it got passed around as nobody realized the issue. Because it wasn’t making power the hammer adjuster would get cranked down and just slam it even harder cause more damage

Watched that video a few times while the pistol was being shipped.

Got it back together and the what look to be original seals gave up . Valve is dumping air. I really like the old fx stuff. The anodizing on them was amazing.

Nice job on the hammer
And yes. the older FX are pieces of machinery that are very easy to admire.
It seems you have a good relationship with UTAH.
Not trying to burn that
But should you be in a hurry for O-Rings this eBay vendor gets things out the door quickly
I've used him often

Nice. I was looking around while waiting for the pistol to be delivered. I only found them in the UK. So they are sitting in customs.

Bear in mind that these are O-ring kits, not complete seal kits.
Meaning that if there are dowty seals or nylon disc seals on the gun they may not be included

just my 0-ring circus

Correct. I went through my parts and do not have the correct size dowty seal. I will call Utah tomorrow and see if the have the valve pin, seat and the dowty.

I was able to polish the old valve and get it to seal. It is leaking slowly from somewhere but kinda wanted to wait and see what was wrong with it before ordering everything considering it was sold as a product.
