It's colorful designer plywood.
Lol, I happen to like them. I have a few laminate rifles. Gray Hw30, Blue R9 and a Green Hw97. In some ways laminate stocks are more functional than traditional hardwoods. But we'd really be splitting hairs there. Stocks can be well made from any number of materials. It's simply a matter a of taste. Like traditional grip vs thumbhole styling. There's no right or wrong preference here.

I’ve got a Hw 30/R7 pattern .. I won’t do work for their cost. I don’t know how they make $ doing it.. a cheap walnut blank is gonna cost ya $200 for plain strait grain walnut. If you want figure it’s easily $400 on up for just a blank.

oh yea, add in hand Checkering at at least $300. On up. CNC and laser cutting or pressed Checkering is horrid. Only thing worse is STIPPLING. 🤮

This blank was over 15 years old and I paid north of $800 then.

A.G.R, what about carving out some "finish yourself" versions of that stock.
No money in DIY WORK. BLANK ALONE IS $100 to 200 for plain Jane.
then add in cutting cost. $300 It’s the exact reason why Steve Corcoran got out of it and into firearms as they pay

I’ve built stocks for a slight few but they are not worried about how many “0“ there are In the end. I

I agree I like the laminates as well. Grays, blues, greens, camo, I'm sure there are others.

Quality costs money. That why nobody makes them. I’m self employed I can’t work for free . Got nobody giving me a check on payday. Labor , materials , equipment all cost a lot.

I bought an amazing HW30 stock off of SC. Cost 750 idk how he even sold it that cheap . Amazing piece of wood. Plus I sent it out to be grip checked that was another 250 or more.
