Taipan Bullpup question

Preface: i've had two Impacts and loved them and they shot fine.
I have a Crown, a Cricket Carbine, a Katran, a Brck Sniper, etc.

Recently, i read so much about Taipan Veterans and had to try one. Got a Vet long 22 and shot it a bunch with mixed, mediocre results, unexplained fliers. Checked everything, changed scopes and ammo several times. Tried tuning.... nothing, except respectable consistency. Accuracy was just fair. During this whole ordeal, i would frequently pull out another airgun and shoot tiny groups??

Anyway, Vet goes away and i get a Brck Sniper Magnum and it's a laser. I'm happy.

My question is... what happened? Did I get a lemon Vet? Did I have a hard time shooting bullpups? Never had trouble with Impacts? I dunno. Anyone have trouble with Vets? They're quality built with CZ barrels, and most CZ barrels like my Cricket and Katran shoot great.

Head scratcher?

Could have been a bad crown

Two beech stock Taipan Veterans from Utah Air. Standard .22 (purchased 12/21) was, and remains, laser with JSB 18.1 @ 50 yards. Long .25 (purchased 2/22) appeared used with stock blemishes and rusty bolt heads, struggled with accuracy fading in, and out. Dismantled and found pinched-together-to-fit lockwasher on front stock bolt. Determined beech stock had dried enough so bottomed out stock bolts didn't secure during dry season but swelled during humid, rainy season to fit. Whomever installed lockwasher was attempting to remedy problem but eventually must have returned. Answer was flat, properly sized, washers on both stock bolts. WM

Guess what...humans manufacturer, and build these things. ANYTHING can happen, at any time during the machining, and the assembly. These companies put out MANY of these guns per day / week. Again, anything can happen.
Yes, most of these guns parts are made by CNC machines. BUT...they STILL need humans to do the setup AND...the monitoring in the machine, and during the machining operations. Things can happen during the machining.
Worn out, broken or chipped cutting tools can and do happen.

So, buy what you like, and hope all went well with the above noted things...
Bad things...will and do happen.

Hmmm, i had the shroud off, but maybe I didn't inspect close enough. I mean a quick look seemed ok. But i might not have noticed small burrs.
Only reason I say this is mine had a bad crown that was a .22 Long and I know of another guy who had a .22 along with the same problem. Could have been a bad batch a .22 Long barrels that the crowning tool was bad. Like above I've owned 8 different Vets I think in all different calibers and lengths and only one had an issue with accuracy which was my Long. But with the recrown it's now my most accurate airgun I've owned.
