Is an old Beeman R (Weihrauch) worth more with all OE parts installed?

I put the original 177 barrel and spring in it and it was a little low on power and big on twang so wound up tinkering with it and left over kit parts. When I was done making over 20fpe and surprisingly accurate. Its now settled down to 19 fpe and reasonably accurate. Just before dark I shot this target with three different versions of JSB 8.44s. The AA were the best. I guess I'll keep this thing.
This was at 25 yards. All but one group isn't anything special at 25 yards until you consider they're going 1000fps.

I struggled with this thing to make that power with several caliber barrels, kits, springs, seals and even a new comp tube. It was like the gun was jinxed. I slam it all together with bits and pieces and it does this. Go figure?

I always wanted it to be a hammer or it's not worth having. There's no point in owning a giant 10 plus pound rifle that makes what my 95s make.

We'll see what happens with it. It's a hump to cock and its power already declined for some reason. And for the haters, no it wasn't dieseling then or now. I'm hoping the spring may have needed to take a set.

I recently tried a brand new and newly developed PG4 Delrin Vortek kit in this gun with a 22 barrel and it didn't make close to this power. That barrel is about 1-1.5 fpe soft but that should make it even in power with a good 177 barrel. I suspect the guides are too tight on that kit and perhaps its under sprung. I'm working with Tom to get it sorted out.

On the guns current configuration I used a longer 29 coil Vortek spring with an older PG4 steel kit. Only I ditched the problematic outer steel guide and it's accompanying o-ring.

This thing is hump to cock now. The shot cycle is not like a cycle at all. It's single sharp but nice pop. Almost like a PB. I'm actually suppised how good it is. Especially for 177.

I may put my better 500mm 22 barrel back on this thing and see what happens. It theoretically should pick up at least 1 fpe and smooth out the shot cyle a little. Obviously big changes on these things can sometimes make unpredictable results.

Or I just may let it go like this with the OE parts in the box as some implied world be the way to go. Well see how I feel after shooting it some more.

Be well my friend
Ron

IMO, things like springs, O-rings and piston seals are wear items. After a certain age and/or number of shots they're meant to be replaced and a 20 year old rifle with the original spring and piston seal is like a 20 year old truck with the original belts and hoses.
I totally agree. Yet there are collectors that want everything original like a "time capsule". I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't like molested stuff but well maintained is fine.

Be well

I get that if the gun is almost entirely a collectors item. Who wants a Sheridan Supergrade with a picatinny rail after all, even though optics would make it an objectively better shooting rifle. 90+% of airguns have little or no collector value however and original style parts that keep them shooting like a new and tuned gun are what I’d prefer to have.

Unless it is a hunting gun for larger game i just do not see the need for high FPE . six FPE will kill squirrels ,birds and rabbits all day long and nights too . High power invites pass through's , and where does the pellet or slug go from there ?
EDIT : this is just a question ,no offence intended
