What did you do airgun related today.

I had dropped my .22 DS Huntsman Regal to 20.5 ft/lbs via replacing the factory hammer spring with a 1.5mm wire gauge x 60mm length spring sourced from AliExpress.

As I was getting a nice 75 shot unregulated string that peaked at about 155 bar on the rifle gauge, I thought I’d try sticking a Huma reg in - as I could use a “reasonable” (for Daystate) reg pressure. I set the Huma to 140bar on the Huma paper scale - as I knew from past experience that the Huma and rifle gauge differed by 15-18bar. Nailed it as rifle gauge (now reg pressure gauge) reads 158 bar. My Huma also has a much larger plenum than the factory Huma “FAC” reg. Rifle was shooting 15.89 at 765fps - peak power of the unregulated string - so I’m happy with the Huma setting. I’ll have to run a regulated string, hoping to get 55 shots on the reg.

Yesterday I used the same 1.5mm x 60mm AliExpress spring to reduce power on my .25 DS Renegade HP. With factory spring its an unregulated beast - shooting 34g at 930fps peak - this basically made 25.4g unusable as they peaked at 1,020 fps. With the lighter spring, I got a nice 25 shot sweetspot of 930-950-930 with the 25.4g. Today I’ll run a string with 34g. If peak around 880fps, I’ll likely not shim or change 1.5mm spring further - and drop in a Huma reg set at where the rifle is making peak power - appears to be about 165-70bar on rifle gauge.

I’m primarily using these Daystates to target shoot, so turning down the power and regulating should improve target accuracy.

FYI: Renegade HP does not use slingshot hammer like the non-HP Renegade does - so cannot adjust power on HP via ss hammer length of throw adjustment (see photo of HP hammer in rifle). So power adjustment by “old school” shimming hs.

Got to remove the electronic trigger assembly to allow access to the rear cap retainer on Renegade. Not hard to do, but to reinstall the trigger assembly, you must hold the rifle cocking lever all the way back to get the trigger assembly to properly seat. There’s always a trick, lol.

So today I made another post so that I can reach the goal of being able to reply in the classifieds, so I can find a new to me PCP!
Dunno if they count that as meaningful. But if you respond to this with what you are looking for, in general, that would count. You could detail one thing in each post that would count too.

I Used to shoot springers in the past, always viewed PCP as too expensive. However, some of the newer rifles (Barra, Air Venturi) seem to be a bit more affordable, plus a little more disposable income ... So, I'm looking for a nice PCP in the ~$300 range, mostly for backyard plinking

Take a look at the threads around the 3 Pinty offerings. Locally one is the named P-Force. A very close cousin to the Air Force Talon. There is a Snowpeak M-16 rifle cousin and a P15/P35 bullpup cousin.

There are some issues but they are $300 or less and there is a $40 coupon "GTA".

Given how many seemed to have been purchased there is now a lot of help to tweak any deficiencies.

Umarex Notos is another that is well liked with a lot of work done to upgrade it.

For high power, Umarex Gauntlet, long, heavy, hits hard. The side lever versions are a bit above your $300 but the gen 1 and 2 can be found in your price range.

Some of the Hatsan like the AT44 can be bought used for a good price.

If you could find one the Reximex Force 1 and Force 2 are a lot of gun for under $300. But I've only found them in Europe and South Africa at sellers that do not ship to US

I have an Avenger in .177 I haven’t shot in a while. I had an idea a while back to rebarrel it with something that can shoot heavier ammo. The gun can make so much power and it all gets wasted since the factory barrel can only stabilize nothing heavier than 10 grains.
Well, it has a 700mm FX heavy liner on it now. I haven’t really shot it yet since I have been making parts to make the barrel mounting stiffer. It’s almost ready.
