HW/Weihrauch True Glow Globes on sale

I hate the way they look, but I love the way they work. I've taken the one I have off several times because they don't look the same quality as the rest of the rifle. Yet it always winds up back on the gun because it works soooooo much better.

Yesterday I was enjoying it so much I figured I should get another. It seems everything I like is usually changed for the worse or discontinued. I found them on sale on Amazon for dirt cheap so I bought two.

This is my all time favorite rifle (Hw30) and it's set up. I removed the rotating light shade from the globe. IMO it looks better without out. Works great in any light conditions. It works light years better than the factory globe in dim light.

For this money you can't afford not to try one. This has been a PSA.

Be well

Seems that people either love or hate these sights. Guess that it depends on what you are using them for.

As kids (in the 60's) we painted our front sight to make it easier to see against a brown rabbit hunkered down in heavy brush. We would have been ecstatic to be buy this type of sight but they weren't on the market.

For snap shooting at moving targets the glow sights are great for fast target acquisition.

On the other hand, IMHO, there's no place for them for (fine) target shooting.

Cheers!

I absolutely agree. I still do well with it target shooting. Admittedly I do better with the thin fixed post Weihrauch economy globe. That's my favorite for fine accuracy.

The TG works so much better overall for me that it's worth giving up a tiny bit of finite accuracy. This thing is point and shoot. I mostly plink and small pest with this rifle. The TG is much quicker and more accurate in this role because I can see it.

I will try my wife’s prime tonight. Even at $13 I will buy one anyway.

Last year while on chipper safari I could see the front sight while in the woods. This may be the ticket. Thanks Ron.
These are perfect for that. They're a bargain for $13. The Weihrauch one is like $60 and won't be as bright. They're made of metal but hood cut out makes it at least as weird looking. You'll thank me when you get to use yours.

The clear ring pops off but I like it better with it on there. I dripped some clear acrylic glue along it's seams to keep it in place when I cock the rifle. I still hate how it looks but it works too good to take off.

Be well

Yea Ron, you are correct. I have both the Weihrauch and a couple of the Truglos. The Truglos are brighter and the FO is a smaller dia. The only thing the Weihrauch has going for it is it's metal. They tie in the goofy category, although the truglo is a bigger sight.

Thanks for that information. Now I'm really happy with the TG. I would have hated to spend 6x more for the Weihrauch and find out it was a thicker FO and dimmer. The dimmer is logical. I had no idea that the FO was thicker.

Take care
Ron

My early shot successes with springers were all made with fiber optic sights - one shot kills out to 60 yards etc. Then I learned I was not supposed to hit anything better than a tin can at 20 yards with 'em (Tom Gaylord at Pyramyd is a perennial antagonist to these, for instance).

I have experimented with all kinds of sights since, and while I get better accuracy with iron sights, peeps etc. in perfect conditions, there are plenty of conditions where fiber optics rule, being extremely quick in acquisition, visible in low light / dark backgrounds, and just as lightweight, foolproof and unobtrusive as irons.
