Airgun Technologies Uragan 2 rapid leak

Shot a couple of ground squirrels this evening.
Shot it one more time to empty the chamber before putting it back in the safe and air was rushing out the barrel.
Dry fired it and then air was blowing out the breech as well as the barrel.
The gun's bottle was empty in approx. a minute or thereabouts.

If it matters: the gun is less than one year old (from Talon Tunes), 25 caliber. From day one has had a VERY loud clang from the buttstock area when fired.

So those in the know... Just a breech seal? or something else.

I haven't had time to take it apart yet.
Ideally I'd like to pick up what I need before disassembly.

Thanks,

Jerry

Sounds like valve broke. Here's pic of JTS Airacuda MAX valve with similar story. U2 has "balanced" valve with different design that was upgraded by AGT. YouTube has U2 breakdown videos, I'd check them out. WM

Like WorriedMan wrote, it's most likely the valve poppet. My U2 .25 broke after about 2-months of use. My rifle has broken-down 5-times in 14-months of use. The first time it was the poppet body broke in half (pic). The other four times the o-ring that sits against the shoulder of the poppet has broken.

You will have to disassemble the rifle about 50% to get at the valve for repair. That fact alone makes the U3 rifle a much better choice as AGT changed many things on the U3 including access to the valve. On the U3 rifle the valve can be removed for service without having to disassemble the rifle.

Thanks Worried Man & BB Gun.
Now for the hardest part... cleaning off a spot on my bench.

Old style balanced valve in my U2 .30 only lasted a month, started shooting full power, squib, full power, squib, until mag empty. Warranty return for updated valve, great since. Purchased V3 and U2 .30s a few months apart, U2 has a ping but nothing like V3, even with factory depinger, still sounds like slamming lid on pot. Later U2s and U3s come with factory depingers. WM

Tony should be fixing it as per warranty, but there are other airgun stores you can find the valve and replace it. What year is your U2? AGT put newer valves in the U2 shortly after they were having these issues. @Vetmx is correct in suggesting backing off the hammer, but your valve should also be adjusted as you can only adjust the hammer back so far before not being able to put your stock back on due to the hammer adjuster sticking too far out.

You guys need to back that hammer spring adjuster off. Or continue to have valve issues.
On my most recent repair I followed your advice and learned the hammer spring adjuster can be adjusted out past flush with the back of the block and still fit in my carbon stock. Prior to that I thought having the adjuster plug flush with the back of the block (stock setting) was as far 'out' as it could go or it wouldn't fit in the stock.

Since you told me about having room to back the adjuster out further I have learned that I can go 3-1/4 turn back from flush with the block and still achieve full function/velocity of the rifle. At 4-turns backed out the valve fails to function and the rifle drops to 350fps. I'm running it now at 3-turns out from flush with the block.

I've put a couple hundred rounds through the rifle since backing-off the hammer spring and so far so good. The rifle will need to get to around 1000-shots before I know that the poppet o-ring isn't going to 'blow' again??? Prior, the o-ring would let-go between 500-800 shots.

Yep. I’ve been saying this since last July when I purchased my first U2. All three of my U2’s were around 3 turns over adjusted. Three turns in on any PCP’s hammer spring is significant. Three turns too much with a balance valve is almost criminal.
