FX Officially an FX owner now.

So my entry to the world of PCP began with a couple months of research before finding the forum here, tons of great info and some very helpful folks here and Im so grateful for that. I ended up staying with my original and most researched choice, the FX Impact M4, the Copper color in .22 cal. Kind of a "damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead" moment, despite the negatives Ive read about here. Im happy to say that my particular M4 seems to be just fine. Shout out to the fellas at The Pellet Shop, the rifle arrived fast, charged to 260 BAR, and fully tuned to my choice of pellets. They also threw in a free t-shirt, pellet saver band, and a bag of Twizzlers. :D I mounted an Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 scope with MOA reticle and 30 mm tube, great combo!

Im shooting JSB 18.13 pellets. Reg, came set at 110, 15 on macro, micro set a shade over 2.5, Valve adjuster shoes what looks to be about 4.5 lines. This morning my Magneto speed V3 chrony showed a high of 915 low of 908, avg 911, ES 7, SD 2.8 over a string of 10 shots. With all the rain my shooting has been limited to out the bedroom window at distances varying from 20-35 yards, but let me tell you this thing is impressive. with a lull in the rain yesterday i was literally smashing flies at 20 yards. the giggle factor was off the charts.

I recieved the M4 on the 1st, as I stated the reg was set to 110, over the first 24 hours it dropped to 105 but has been rock steady there for 3 days now, assuming the drop was temperature related since my house is quite cool. The bottle pressure dropped to 255 as well. I dont see this as an issue, i expected things to settle a bit. My first refill came after the first 175 shots, bottle pressure was 145, figured filling early would avoid loss of performance. So far Im happy as a clam, great looking rifle that doubles as a fly swatter, no apparent issues. Hopefully the weather clears soon so I can stretch out the distance. (y)

Welcome to the family. I have a maverick and even with everything I’ve had to figure out and adjust I still love it. I‘m a tinkerer at heart as so are a lot of guys on this forum. Wish you less rain and more tight groups.
I am a tinkerer also. But often if I find something just works as is then I just let it ride. That seems to be the case with the M4 right now. Other than a few accessories to come later I'm happy for now.

I was the same way when I first got my maverick. Started seeing others achieve results I wanted and the slope got slippery 😂 the 18 gr .22 really are the sweet spot for most guns but I’ve started upping my compact to 25 grains to see how far I can touch some pigeons.

I'm sorry 😐.

Just kidding.😁 I have a mk2 myself that's been up graded to the power block/PP. I like that I can buy any part that I need to repair it where any of my my Asian rifles I can't.

Way to windy to be flying 18 grain pellets today, but I did manage this group between gusts at 35 yards. Only had a slight right to left sustained breeze, the low one was all me getting too heavy on the trigger before I got settled in.

Unless I missed it, what barrel length did you choose? You'll have to resist the urge to adjust this and fiddle with that. If the rifle is shooting to your satisfaction, leave it alone.
I chose the standard model with the 600 mm barrel. One thing I would like to add is a barrel tensioner, but I can't seem to find one for the 600 mm barrel. Seems they are all for the 700 and 800 mm barrels...unless I just have searched deep enough yet. As far as adjustments such as macro, micro, and valve go... I see no need unless i try a different pellet weight. It's shooting great and has a great shot count with the JSB 18.13's. I was literally shooting flies at 21 yards the other day. :sneaky:(y)

I would resist the urge to spend money on a barrel tensioner. You might just find that its affect on accuracy is minimal. You might try a CF barrel sleeve. It's only $30. I put one on my 700mm rifle and didn't seem to see any difference. What might work better is a couple of Limbsaver barrel dampeners. They are heavy rubber thingies that slip over the barrel and help dampen out vibration. They are only about $10 each on Amazon. Lubricate your barrel and the ID of the Limbsaver with a light oil like Ballistol and slide them on.

The limb savers would definitely take some vibration out, and with some experimenting you may actually be able to use them as tuners... I've seen guys have success on powder burning rifles that way. But, I'm thinking more a long the lines of just adding some stiffness due to the barrel being a bit too flexible, possibly giving some protection against having a bent barrel due to unplanned hard bumps etc.

Don't forget that the barrel liner bolt torque can affect this too, but this puts the liner into compression and it may be sensitive to thermal expansion. Maybe we're over thinking this.
