Brocock/BRK Ghost collaborative data request

I've tried several pellets at different weights for my .30 caliber 600mm barrel. None are grouping well. Either my Athlon Heras 6-24x50 is garbage or it's something else.
I cleaned my barrel and did a light polish job on it. My reg is at 144 and wheel at 14....Mine loves the AEA 50.5 right at 900 FPS.

Here you go Rudy, Tried to be succinct, which is hard for me.

.177 barrel (17 inches, 12 land and groove, choked, 1:17.7)

10.34s at 890fps (accuracy from the 10.34s best if kept under 900 with this barrel, and really goes south at 920+)
  • Flow through probe
  • 455grain hammer (skeletonized)
  • Preload adjustment about 1/8” proud of hammer body (threaded insert in nose of hammer on the earliest Ghosts)
  • 0.047” wire hammer spring
  • Regulator @ 105 bar
  • Hammer spring tension at MAX
.20 barrel (18 inches, 12 land and groove, choked, 1:17.7)

(two “tunes” for this one, first is the target edition, second is the long range pester)

13.73s at 810fps on MIN

15.89s at 915fps on 11

18.9s at 870-880fps on MAX
  • Extended pin probe
  • 455grain hammer (skeletonized)
  • Preload adjustment about 1/8” proud of hammer body (threaded insert in nose of hammer on the earliest Ghosts)
  • 0.047” wire hammer spring
  • Regulator @ 126-128 bar
Or…

15.89s at 920-925 on “5”

18.9s at 910-915fps on MAX
  • Extended pin probe
  • 455grain hammer (skeletonized)
  • Preload adjustment about 1/8” proud of hammer body (threaded insert in nose of hammer on the earliest Ghosts)
  • 0.051” wire hammer spring
  • Regulator @ 122-124 bar

.22 barrel (23inches, 5 groove polygonal, choked, 1:30)

28.55s @ 960fps on MAX
  • Extended pin probe
  • 545grain hammer (non-adjustable preload with this hammer)
  • 0.051” wire hammer spring
  • Regulator at 150 bar
  • Hammer spring tension on MAX
As time goes forward I KNOW some of you Ghostly owners have lots of data to share
hop on
Share your data
I would really like to produce a condensed / consolidated tuning cheat sheet for the ghost in a variety of calibers asap.

Also

Has anyone found some gauges for the Ghost, especially the regulator Gauge that are accurate and that we can SEE?

@cavedweller,

Been considering a similar experiment, but with a slight shift down in pellet weight. Curious on a somewhat midweight .22 pellet weight "tune" using the 13.43/14.35/15.89/18.13/20.83s.

And mostly interested in how it'll behave with those pellets while using the same 105-110bar reg pressure that the gun needs for a 19fpe .177 "tune" for field target.

Been mentally planning on doing the above and sharing the results, but also comparing the impact points when going from the .177, .20, and .22 barrels.

Rudy, do you happen to have the wire diameter of the "white" spring you're using?

I’m trying to create a cheat sheet for the FAC Ghosts when wanting to change calibers or barrel length and or pellets efficiently.
I have ALL barrel(s) lengths and calibers, including a .20 available to me.
I want to hear from folks who have found the perfect combination of:

Regulator pressure used for that caliber and barrel length
hammer spring installed
Power wheel setting (s)
pellet type/weight
resulting speed fps.
you can include slugs if you like but be very specific as not that many slug shooters "yet".

Thanks in advance

And why didn’t BRK think to do this???
Surely someone has??
Cavedweller keith 1 here 1) getting my ghost soon from aoa need for hft you said my reg should be 110 for 19 foot pounds ? and what pellet 10.34 ot 13.4? thanks keith

@keith1 it can push either weight at an HFT legal <20 fpe speed but you need a chronograph to make sure of the correct power wheel settings for your pellet choice.
