FX Crown/Dreamline magazine questions

I have a Crown and DL tactical, and got some QD Fox mags on trade. The factory mags work fine in both rifles, no problems at all. The Fox mags work in the Crown and are a solid tight fit. But the DT is another story, they will try to fall out when cycling the bolt. The DT seems to have a much wider port for the mag, and I'm wondering what the problem is. I mean, there's a friction oring on factory mags that hold them solid in both guns, but the Fox mags have nothing. So is it the barrel protrusion that is making the difference? I haven't had time to measure the opening, but it must be a factor.

Just wondered if Orion mags would work any better in the DT????

Try loosening the barrel retention screws on the DT and see if you can seat the barrel a little further into the breach. If so, that may some your problem. I find I have to test fit the mags before tightening the barrel retention screws when swapping barrels because if I don't there are time I can't get the magazine to fully seat because of the tight fit.

I don't have that issue with my QD mags, but MY issue is they don't like to cycle very well for my Crown Mkii or my Impact M3. I have to constantly jiggle the carosel for it to forward to the next round. Happens more times than not. Sux for when I am going for a quick follow up shot and the probe meets resistance because the mag didn't advance properly.....

I'm pretty much relegating the fox mags to on the shelf duty.

I measured the opening in both guns and both are exactly 15.2mm, so barrel protrusion is the difference. The mags function fairly well but hiccup once in a while and I'm guessing the DL barrel needs pushed in a bit and the Crown needs pulled out.

I had a lot of mag issues with my Impact and ended up just leaving the 22 bbl on it once it was at the right spot for mags to feed. It is very picky with all my factory mags.

I think maybe the Fox mags are sometimes slightly off ? I have some for my alpha wolf and they are 150 % solid. The ones for my fx wildcat mk3 fit tight as a !!!%% …and you can’t really get them out in the middle of a shooting session (non empty mag) without ripping a pellet in half. Not a huge complaint as they are ultra cheap. Definitely not perfect. Luckily I can give them a slight sanding as all 3 are like this. However it’s a bit tougher if they are too loose.
