Other Taipan shroud on a Ghost?!?

Yep!

My personal opinion is that the original Veteran came with the most effective OEM shroud/husher of any airgun that I've played with. They're aluminum walled, aluminum baffled, reflex type shrouds, that are essentially moderators. And moderators of a much better (more effective) design than many actual moderators.

Well, I figured out a way to install a shroud from a Vet Long onto my .20 Ghost. Since both the Vet and the Ghost use 15mm OD barrels, it wasn't too tough, just required a thread conversion to go from BRK barrel thread to 1/2x20.

The conversion makes the Ghost about 5/8" longer than an OEM BRK shroud. And my oh my my does it quiet things down!

Ghost isn't ever going to be the quietest airgun around, just too much inherent action noise. But this certainly helped. With this Vet shroud, adding a moderator on the end of the shroud doesn't make it any quieter, so I've got all the muzzle noise contained that is possible to contain. And without making it a big long broomstick like happens when you run a moderator on the end of the shroud.

And the Vet Long shroud that i tracked down is one of the more matte ones, so it matches the matte chassis of the Ghost rather well. Going to run it this way for a while and see what I think. From first impressions, it's seeming like it'll be like this from now on.

Not the greatest photo but this is what I've got....

Very nice! I agree Taipan shrouds are among the best out there. What thread size are the BRKs? I assumed they would be 1/2-20 but guess not?

I think maybe 14x1mm?

That's what Red Wolf and Delta Wolf and Ghost barrels have on the muzzle too. Standard Daystate/BRK practice is to make the internal front shroud support thread onto that 14x1? And then the carbon fiber shroud itself has a glued in insert with 1/2x20 threads so you can add a moderator to the shroud.

Yes, Daystate barrels (like my Wolverine R HP) are threaded M14x1.

Forgot to mention that the OD of the Veteran baffles is the same as the ID of the BRK carbon fiber shroud....in other words, the ID of both the Vet and the Ghost shrouds are the same. And yes, I tinkered with the Vet baffles stacks in the BRK carbon fiber shroud. It works, just wasn't quite as quiet as the Vet aluminum shroud.

HOWEVER... I'm planning on putting the now extra longer carbon fiber BRK shroud on my 17" .177 barrel, with some Veteran baffles in there, to be able to run it hushed, without having to add a moderator. The Ghost carbine (17" barrel and short little carbon fiber tube) REQUIRES an additional moderator to be tolerable. Also, I checked and there's simply not enough room in the front of the short little carbine shroud to add baffles. So to add baffles to a Ghost Carbine, a guy has to have a longer than OEM shroud.

Thanks for confirming, I wasn't too confident in my memory.

DFL sells an adapter - so you can use a standard 1/2-20 threaded moderator on a bare barreled Daystate if you desire…

I used a similar one of these on the Ghost barrel to be able to thread into the vented bushing (1/2x20) inside the Veteran shroud.
