Barrel Length in the Airgun Industry

Hey guys what is considered the barrel length in the Airgun Industry?
I always thought it was the part that was rifled. Does a shroud that is 5" longer than the actual rifled barrel count as barrel length , and what does 1/2 the threaded adapter have to with it?
My Guantlet I just bought needed to be cleaned of the factory pasty stuff in the barrel , so I pulled the 1/2 by 20 adapter off , and the 4 plastic baffles , and the spring. Then the shroud , and I measured the rifled part I call the barrel.
It was 23 1/2 inches long not the 28 1/4 I thought it was.
Now then I put the shroud back on without the baffles " Pellet Clippers" I call them , and the spring. I measured the 281/4" which was from the breach to the middle of the thread adapter. Ok am I wrong that the barrel is the rifled metal part , or does the shroud count as part of the barrel in the Umarex airgun Industry. OldVet wants to know.

The barrel is the barrel. It does the actual controlling of the projectile. Neither the shroud nor the muffler (hopefully) have any say-so in where the pellet goes.
Any other length is either shroud and or muffler (silencer, suppressor, damper, etc.) .

Seems that the last few years, people make up names, and or change names to suit themselves or groups, that actually have none, or little to do with reality. And the more that find that new word..."cool", will spread that new word, and so on, and so on.
Just like...I dare ANYONE...to swim "under water" !

I was lied to , and by Umarex saying the Guantlet has a 281/4" barrel.
It's 231/2" with a 5" of shroud. Don't even know why they did not lie about the other 1/4 inch as it measures 281/2. lol The thread protector was on so tight I had to use vise grips , and pliers to break it loose. Don't worry I wrapped a napkin around it and very lightly clamped the grips did not cause any damage to the thread protector.

That's interesting. They sure do list the barrel length as 28.25". I've never seen anyone include shroud length before.
I try to have a calm demeanor, but I'm known to loose it sometimes , and I need to work on that , I'm ok now , but when I first figured it out I was pissed off , and felt cheated , and lied too. The damn barrel is 231/3 inches not 281/4 , and to me that is false advertising , and it just hurt my feelings real bad , because the barrel length played a big part in my decision to make the the purchase , and also due to my Zelos I was very happy with Umarex company , and now I feel cheated , and let down plus I don't trust them anymore. But I'm ok now lol. Edit: I forgot I added my Buckrail moderator to the Guantlet
, so my barrel is now 341/2 inches long.LOL.
