Airgun Technologies Uragan 2 questionable* šŸ¤ raw power

Hello,

After I ended banned on UK AG forum for ā€œspammingā€, after I directly answered what was my max power achieved with Uragan 2/ .25/ 700mm, I want to share it here for all interested. Hopefully, people here will be more interested than people there šŸ˜…

Soā€¦ Iā€™m playing for some time with my U2, specifically interested in heavier slugs and ELR with transonic velocities, so I can get better BC than usual. After some findings about HS tension screw on factory default settings, I started tuning the balanced valve. My logic was next: if by default HS tension is too high, what would be the balanced valve tune to make maximum out of it? I was thinking like: if Iā€™m not bringing any new stress to valve by doing soā€¦

Btw my only proof of good tuning was ES; if itā€™s low- Iā€™m good.

Finally, I achieved some respectable numbers with different slug weights and hereā€™s my ā€œmiddle groundā€:

ZAN slugs 37grain@333mps (1092fps) and ES 6. Thatā€™s 98 foot-pounds of energy šŸ˜³

Obviously, lighter slugs are going above speed of sound, therefore my future research goal is to play with +40grainers, either with CARM magazine or one by one.

Just for further reference, at the end, when I realized close to what Iā€™m at, I added some minimal tension to HS, but far from questionable in terms of added airgun stress and mostly because ATM it was easier to turn HS little up instead of digging the valve to close it up just for a few degrees.

I havenā€™t even tested air efficiency but roughly itā€™s not below 30, maybe even more.

I hope that this findings are helpful for you all, I would be very happy if I give you at least a small amount of knowledge that you all gave to me.

Those are fantastic numbers! Is this managed in stock form? As in no parts changed? I know the platform can make some serious power. I have a .177 that's putting out 36fpe and I had mine making 38fpe shooting 20gr slugs at 930 for over 70 shots at only 135-140b at one point.

so is it a balance valve similar to the Huben? also you mentioned digging for the adjuster, does that mean it's not easily accessible like the power adjuster on the Huben K1 ?
I'm not interested in tuning but I am interested in a gun with easily adjustable power.. like my Condor I can easily shoot 14 grain pellets and then turn it up to shoot 40 grain Zan slugs..
I'm going to have to do some looking and searching because I'm not familiar with your gun and you got me interested..I'd appreciate any links for info.
thank you

You need to degas the rifle, unscrew the bottle, ensure the plenum is empty of air, unscrew a 4 pin cap (needle pliers) infront of the regulator to then pull the regulator and adjust it.

To adjust the hammer spring (3 screws), remove the stock, loosen grub screw locking HSA. Sounds like a lot, it's not, but it's not immediately accessible.

way more than I am interested in doing.. sometimes I'll shoot some light pellets and get a bug and then switch to 25 or 34 grain pellets and then I'll switch to the 40 grain Zan slugs.. and then who knows I might switch back to the light ones for a few final shots.. I like the power wheel on the side of the Condor's,I don't bother with the fine setting, always put that on 1 .. mostly go 2-4-6-8-10 and occasionally to 12.. below 4 on 14 grain pellets and 4-8 on 34 grain pellets and 6-12 on the slugs..
do you have any recommendations on other guns that might fit in with what I like doing?
thank you

Please, excuse my adding AND into your quoted post ā€” it REALLY DOES sound like A LOT.

āž§ One reason I still haven't bought any AGT gun..... šŸ˜ž

āž§
And why I keep buying RTI guns.... šŸ˜ƒ

I really like the AGT guns ā€” but in this day and age ā€” for a gun of that price ā€” I expect external reg and HST adjustment....
(For those who don't want that, simply offer that as a low-cost option, like RTI is doing: "performance model" and "regular model"! Simple.)

Cheers,

Matthias

Yes, without any aftermarket parts. This U2 model is from the end of 2024., so 2nd gen valve and depinger are already installed.

I also polished the barrel with the most non abrasive method possible- shoelace with knot and Armistol on it. Simple thingsā€¦

My last tune was for the efficiency @160bar. I was getting 10 shots with 15bar of air consumption.

Wellā€¦ now I need my 6.8l bottle much closer than then but hell- itā€™s much more fun too šŸ˜…

I feel you and to some extent I agree with you, but (thereā€™s always but)- itā€™s a half hour job tops and once itā€™s done- you can close it and forget it. And then enjoy its raw power with ultimate precision. CZ barrels are really sweet šŸ˜…

Huben K1, easiest to adjust hammer spring and regulator, no need to degas to bring regulator down.

FX Impact, RTI, SKOUT.

Out of those 3 I only have experience with FX.

Not sure that any of those rifles mentioned can allow you to adjust from 40gr to 14gr or lower except for the Huben K1. That one can do it all.

I've been contemplating polishing my .177 barrel, it fouls up fast.

I donā€™t know what to say about that subjectā€¦ I was so frickin frustratedā€¦ I had solid numbers, ZAN 37grainers@292mps and accuracy beyond my skill, but after I cleaned the barrel- my numbers dropped to 280mps approx šŸ¤Æ
Then I decided to polish it properly, yet with the least aggressive method I knew and without any paste, just with an Ballistol equivalent.
Oh yeah, I also used few drops of barrel oil afterwards.
Now Iā€™m pleased with the results, to say at least šŸ˜…

Good to know lol. I have a custom hammer, spring guide, and sleeve coming in today so hopefully it quiet down the ping and maintain power and consistency.

There's a moment in life in which you appreciate simplicity.

And then...... You think about Delta Wolf and an involuntary smile appears in your face.
