I'm curious to know, how, a pcp airgun with very very little recoil can find it in itself to break a vector optic?
I use a Vector and the glass in this thing is spectacular. I have had zero issues. Obviously , that does not mean that someone else, hasn't.
All of these scopes are made the same way. They all have an erector tube, they all use springs, sub tensions, glass elements, Oculars and objectives.
I can look through my IOR Recon ( Made in Romania who has been known to return shipments of glass because it did not meet standards) ( Look up where they get their glass) Or My Leupold 6.5-20x40 which is Very good , and see very little difference at all between the three as IQ goes. I can assure you that a Meopta scope is in no way better in image quality than a Romanian made IOR Recon. I would bet money on it. I have been behind Schmidt Bender, Nightforce, and quite a few other very expensive scopes such as March. The Vector glass ( at least my copy) is up there. It's very close. Of the big three names, IOR, Schmidt Bender and nightforce, I chose the IOR based on what My eye saw. Not to say it's a better scope than the other two, because all three are real good. I just liked the contrasty color rendition, which was very close to my Leupold.
So I'd like to know how you break a Vector Scope with a very lightly recoiling PCP gun? Anyone?
While judging Image quality- can anyone tell me what ,"image quality" really is? Anyone?
One doesn't normally break a scope by using it as intended, unless it's been damaged somehow, so for whatever reason thing/s inside the scope weren't made correctly. Let's just say that every man made thing can have problems for many reasons. Is this reasonable to conclude, I mean we all know this happens, right?!
Speaking of the lauded IOR, my old FFP Valdada FFP 6-24x56 broke in the middle of a long range match to the point of missing most of the rest of the steel! They replaced it and I sold it NIB. This scope was kind of a 1st gen of a 'edit' a new line' back then around 15 years ago.
But before that my friend had two IOR 9-36's, the first broke and the 2nd didn't track correctly.
Yes quite literally my Optika 6 is nearly as nice as my S&B PM2 5-25 and my March Genesis "in IQ". Maybe I got a good one, who knows?!
Possibly it's the case that Vector bought better glass for their latest Gen scopes. My 1st gen I bought 3 years ago, the 2nd gen I got 1.5 years ago.
My first Continental had intermittent shifts that were hard to detect at first, then after another year my hit ratios in FT faltered by 1-3 misses per match and my daughter who is an amazing shot experienced the same thing using my gun/scope combo, the gun which is BTW a Thomas. I got a Athlon ETR 15-60x50, mounted it, and ever since then my scores came back to what they were before.
And March, I've had problems with them too but not mechanically, just IQ oddities. This was present on three of them.
I didn't buy the Continental to bad mouth it because I like the reticle and lighter weight for the mag range. However I was able to compare it to my other scopes, not expecting what I got out of this experience - and here we are.....
YMMV
