RAW Rapid My old RAWs

Here are pictures of the various RAW rifles that I've owned over the years. These were all built by Martin before he sold the company and note that they all have those beautiful walnut stocks. Sadly, I sold them. All I have left is a new HM1000x in .177 built by Martin too. It's a great 100 yd gun with slugs. In reviewing the targets I've shot with these rifles, there's no doubt that Martin Rutterford can build the most accurate rifles around. Would one of you please come around and kick my a$$ for selling these guns?

Pretty rifles - the wood used on the .30 cal is very unique and cool looking.

Pretty wood stocks are nice, I have a few, but for me they are a bit of a stressor - like worrying about door dings on a new car. There are only about two of my pretty stocks left that I have not yet customized with a ding or pressure mark. I’ve learned how to refinish stocks, but its not something that you want to do often - better to let the dings build up for a while, then do a “re-paint”, lol.

Question: do you feel the RAWs in .177 and .22 are “backyard friendly“ with the stock moderators?

Some light pressure marks or shallow dings represent character. My HM1000 was backyard friendly for sure. Keep in mind that it was only shooting about 16 fpe. My HM1000x in .177 does have a bit of a bark, but there again, It's shooting at 31 fpe, and my hearing isn't the best so it doesn't bother me. I forgot how the .22s were because it's 9 years ago since I had them. If you don't get caught up in the power craze and keep the power to a decent level, there's no reason why the guns won't be backyard friendly

Wow Paul, that LRT with the Benchmark barrel is a beauty!
I can see why you thought mine had a benchmark.
small butt-kicking is promised if ever we meet😉

@EPG I would say that the RAW’s are backyard friendly…a little loud, but not disturbingly loud enough to make a neighbor upset
Roof nailer W/O an LDC fitted IMO .... These rifles generally are NOT known for air use efficient operation and not IMO what I would call "That quiet" :cautious:

Some real nice airguns shown here, and lots of seller's remorse as well. 😳

Understand if life forces someone to sell assets to meet financial commitments but it seems that a lot of people are selling known to be great airguns and regretting it (repeatedly?) afterwards. 🤔

I have a decent collection of a variety of carefully selected airguns and avoid seller's remorse by making them permanent residents. ...My estate manager can worry about what to do with them when I'm gone 🤪

Guess that I'm just wondering why people seem to be so willing to sell a good airgun. Hype? Advertising? Latest and greatest? Bragging rights? Greener grass?

Have one RAW, real pleased with it - it's definitely a keeper!

Cheers!

When Martin builds these guns , I understand he does quality work. I’d like to know what the secret sauce is with the internals. Porting , hammer weights , regulator work and that sort of stuff. I just can’t see where the magic happens over the off the shelf RAW rifles.
Until the last couple years .... Martin as in the past as with mentioned AirForce involvement he was still the man doing final assembly / tuning / testing.

The guns are just solid using quality parts and pieces, correctly adjusted etc ....

* There is no secret sauce IMO as there are several folks/tuners around the USA & world that do an even better job at it .... By, leaving tradition of how they have been outfitted & set up all these years by doing stuff that is more modern & cutting edge with the internals. You would never know it looking as they visual look the same but operate/perform much better.

IMO yes. I shoot my HM100 in the yard with the stock moderator. Mine is an older one, without the car muffler offset thing. Of course, backyard friendly depends on your neighbors.

Sorry….I bought the one second from the top, and gifted it to my son. It’s one of the finest shooting rifles I’ve ever shot. Unfortunately for me, my son shoots it very well, and schools his Dad frequently. Thanks for passing it on. John

IMO - nothing sweeter than a TM1000 with motorheads magic touch! Crisp snap !
I’ve owned a .30 / .25 / .22 and two or 3 .177’s, always struggled with the overall weight but damn they shoot. Now it’s an old Tm1000x in .22 for bench rest only.
the STO moderator makes it neighbor friendly otherwise it would sit in the safe.

Maybe, but Martin is the creator of RAW rifles and I believe knows more about their capabilities than anyone. My TM which I used for BR had a trigger that broke like glass at 2 oz. and my HM1000 FT rifle broke at 4. There's no better trigger IMO. Martin no longer any business connection with Air Force and does not do any final assembly for them. You can buy a rifle and ship it to him for tuning etc. I personally don't believe that the rifles from the factory are as good as what he used to do, but probably close. Or there are others now that seem to be able to perfect what comes out of Ft. Worth.
