    PCP then springer?

I do not want anything to do with spring guns. I do keep my little Stoeger .177. It is about 14 fpe, fairly accurate and not especially gargantuan. Okay for HOSPs to about 10 yards. I saw a stainless steel under lever once I might would like but for the money I would rather spend it on a PCP.

Other New to PCP rifles need help :)

JFYI, most pellets are lead. There are some non-lead pellets but they typically are not the best for accuracy or longer range or hunting. If you actually intend to hunt or pest and use pellets vs slugs (which are also lead) then do not let the .22 guys sway you. A .25 hits much harder and makes...

    Raccoon Down

Not sure what it is about Kansas but the deer up here are huge, like elk, coyotes more like small wolves and raccoons near 50 pounds. The last one I had to do in that was hissing and chasing my wife and my neighbor lady was right at 50 pounds.

    Raccoon Down

This pestiferous creature had been given many chances. I started removing my feeders and making sure everyhting was secure. He kept coming, tore up my feeders inside my shed! Messed all over both patios. Now he is no more. I had out a trap but he somehow tore his way out of the trap destroying...

I have been officially shut down!

This will go off rails. The OP was shooting in a visible area. It is not clear if the location is in a city limit or rural unincorporated. Or exactly how densely his environs are populated. And some likelihood the officer is mistaken, I would either ask to see the regulation or look it up...

I have been officially shut down!

I do not think it has anything to do with the power, it is the tactical assault rifle appearance of most air rifles that garners attention. The power is not easy to judge, the mistaken identity of an air rifle that looks like a military battle rifle does. Sooner or later I imagine the police...

I have been officially shut down!

As did I and I am pretty sure it is 100 feet, not 1,000 feet away of roads.

Other Just how much must I pay for "Accuracy" in a PCP gun?

The M-Rod has a shrouded barrel that marginally free floats inside the shroud. The M-Rod needs the barrel band to stabilize the shroud for anything other than bench shooting. M-Rod with high rise side lever breech and 3D printed barrel band below. (The resident know it all says 3D printed or...

Other Just how much must I pay for "Accuracy" in a PCP gun?

See that is the thing. You have them in a case. Take them out in the woods and bump them around, lay them down, hoist them up into a blind, drop them, lean them in the corner. Does it keep dead on? This is a problem with air rifles in general. Where there is smoke there is fire and the FX POI...

    Pesting isn’t hunting! But…

I build bird nests and constructed a small blue bird trail on my property and surrounding area. I read in one of the bird journals that using pellet rifles to control HOSPs was inefficient and cruel. The author claimed it impossible to reduce the HOSPs and it was better to use sparrow proofing...

Thoughts on PCP at higher altitudes

Actually that is incorrect. One atmosphere is 14.7 psi at sea level at standard conditions. One atmosphere equivalent of sea water is 33 feet. Thus 33 feet of seawater equals all of the air over your head from sea level to wherever the atmosphere runs out which is essentially called the Karman...

Other Just how much must I pay for "Accuracy" in a PCP gun?

With a few things to keep in mind, the Gamo Urban .22 is an accurate and relatively strong shooting unregulated rifle. To make it shoot: 1. Remove barrel band 2. Either purchase the GTA trigger kit or take the screw from the barrel band and use in the OE trigger to improve 3. Remove that dang...

Other Just how much must I pay for "Accuracy" in a PCP gun?

I would sort the M-Rod out for now. I have four M-Rod .25s, each a little different and each with a particular mission in mind and all four will tear ragged holes at 25 to 30 yards. All shoot MOA or close to 50 yards. I use them for pesting/hunting, not bench rest. Pellets, an opinion, just not...

    Chronograph With Bullet Hole

I shoot mine regularly, it has several divots in it but thus far still works.
