  • Feeling frisky, so i think tomorrow i will bring the Maverick to the range and do some more testing in its sawed off state ( 700 mm to 600 mm )
Also need to redo the business end of the Heavy barrel, though crowning it will have to wait until i get home.

Not bringing any of the really heavy stuff, i think i will test with 13 grain i know very well performance of in 700 mm form, but i do also have some 16 grain in the ammo box if i like what i see.
Peashooters pruning service hard at work.

The branch i started working on Saturday have now fallen.

    p2.jpg

The fallen was swiftly propped up, so additional pruning can be done.

3 pieces cut to size for convenient removal, or compost,,,,, probably the latter.

Peashooters pruning service do not stop before big yellow friend leave..

    Church got hit by lightning.

Note the build year on it, 1123, and that's not even the oldest church here, in use too i believe.
I do wonder why they have not made the two 1 numbers alike, but trust me its not 1723

BTW if you drive a little further down the road with the google car, you will see houses with a little 5 X 4" or there about light grey box on the wall, that is the fiber optic internet, so this little POS village / town are hooked up for lightning fast internet.
Mind you 1 gbit are still the norm, but some places do also offer 2.5 gbit, and a select few places also 5 gigabit, that mean you can amass a serious pic collection in no time,,,,, if ! you are that way inclined.
    1 gbit on fiber = 15 USD/mo
Aside for ghetto fixing a snowpeak today.
I also managed to pull quite a few old obsolete wires from my car, shuffle around 1 piggy back fuse adapter for my hard wire setup, so i can draw more power when charging.
Remove a lot of power sockets in my glove box, and replacing them with a power source instead, so one of my cameras do not have to leech on the little battery in my little car while parked.
Not a huge power pack, none of them really are as is, but as i only use parking guard for 4 hours on timer it is just fine, the rest is up to permanent CCTV equipment.

Seem like i have caught a new addiction.
    Shooting pellets.

It never really worked well in my Maverick, well at least at the 86 M distance i shot at back then.
But my past 10 or so hours of shooting at the range have been mainly pellets, and shooting them from 30 M to 123 M ( +130 yards )
With the wind that was there, well a measly little 10.4 or so grain or so .177 pellet get pushed around a lot, so in regard to working the wind a learning experience for sure.
At 93 M / 100 yards, with a rifle zeroed for the occasional 0 wind / very little wind, well if i was quick about it i could put 3 pellets on a 2" target before the wind was back.
With the wind there, well you got blown L / R about 1 - 5 inches when it was bad, and some times you also got blow down on the paper, very few high shots for natural reasons.

So the crossman domed pellets, well 1000 of them gone, and they work really well at the shorter ranges,
The JSB Heavy ones, well lagged a bit behind the crosman pellets, but it might be a speed issue i have NOT touched my regulator in 2 outings now, and my last 10 hours of shooting, unusual i have not had a chrono dangling off my rifle.

But the kicker pellet, the JTS dead centers,,,,, i got to get me some more of those CUZ at 100 yards, distinctive better than the other pellets i tried.

Also on a whim i brought the 10 grain JSB KO / MK 3 slugs,,,,, and daum, in not insignificant wind i was putting slugs on a thin wooden pole at 130 yards,,,,, and many in a row very few misses due to wind.
So i only had 1 tin of those,,,,,, THAT ! will soon change .

My friend shooting his .22 Cutlass, with the 15.something grain JSB pellets, well lets just say he is now a long range shooter too, though due to his old scope he can not hang at 130 yards, but 100 he do just fine with the old rifle.

Here is my first paper of yesterday shot at 100 yards, with the JTS pellets.
Bit of Chaos here, later i got to judge wind better, as in hold my shots to there was less of it, or the 3 wind flags was at least showing mostly the same direction, CUZ in 100 yards the wind was often 3 different directions.

    100ypellets.png

Today i did short range stuff, pruning leaves and twigs of a tree, or shoot 1 hole groups in paper at 30 M
Both fairly easy due to surprising little wind early in the day.

At 53 BAR on the regulator, my long rifle was sipping air, i could get used to shooting like that ( around 930 fps )

Will be adding a video later on.
2 days of nice air gunning over.
Started out rough, having to fix leaks in my old .22 Cyclone, as it turned out it was both ends of the air pipe, though just the valve in the front, the back both had valve and also the outer 22 mm O-ring that crumbled when i tried to remove it.
Then yesterday i hit the ground running / okay then crawling after having unloaded 2 complete kits of air gunning equipment.
Especially the old 12 L 200 BAR tank was a pain.
Then we went to you lumber yard / DIY store to pick up some wood for my friends projekt, and i picked up a handle / latch for the shot shed, and also 2 rubber tiles. which i am sure i will shoot strait thru, well at least where they are only 15 mm thick due to drainage pattern on the back.
While 30 mm thick in other places i am sure this will not be enough for a backstop, will have to brainstorm more on this.

So i installed the door handle / latch, and then set forth shooting my Cyclone, which wouldn't you know can shoot a little faster if you give it the last 1.5 revolutions on the hammer spring adjuster before it bottom out on something, but i gained like 60 FPS

Tested 22 grain Dead centers, and they are not bad, but would probably be better with a little more speed.
My friend not entirely convinced we had already tested the 18.13 Jumbo heavy a decade ago, well he is a believer now,,,,, and very much a potential buyer of a few tins of those.
Same go for the 16.08 grain Dead centers, also pretty sweet shooting pellets.
The 14.35 grain Jumbo express ones though, well topping out over 1000 FPS, they was a bit too fast for their own liking i think, we did not try them on MED transferport setting, everything was high of course.
The 16 grain snow peak diabolos was not a success at the speeds we saw.

    IMG_20240803_222451.jpg

So i have already compiled my next shopping list for pellets.
    I want:

16.08 dead centers, and i think they also have a 18 grain version i want that too.
And then i need to stock up on 18.13 grain Jumbo heavies.

And as i tried my #2 to last tin of 4.5 mm beasts in my Two today, and the 700 mm CZub barrel liked it very much i have to say, well need me some more of that in 4.5 mm. 25 - 75 M seemed excellent and it will be better when i un- experiment my Two rifle.

Of course i also blew thru a couple of boxes of 16 grain Zan slugs, not at a good speed, and for sure not with the experiment i had going on the Two.

But all in all when i am shooting, its a damn good day, or in this case damn good couple of days.

Made a target recording too today, it would seem like Insta studio did not like me messing with the speed of the original 4K / 120 recording, so it fall apart.

WARNING: loose +2 minutes of your life..

93 M / 100 yards i think, the game is Annihilate the red base 2" style.

    Sort of related.

My computer chair was collapsing on me in spite of only being a year old.

    IMG_20240726_133849.jpg

So i went looking for a better used chair, and found this one.

    IMG_20240726_132620.jpg

Only adjustable in height, but still able to "kick back" in it, and i often need that when the stupidity of the world overpower me, and i have to push myself a little away from the screen and shake my head in disbelief.

I do like the reto look of the cast ALU frame on it, could also be the blue color that give me a fifties feel about it.

PS. No matter what direction i aim a camera in my living room, a gun case or two will sneak into frame :)
    Chief Ten-Beers
It does have that "70's" Retro look about it! My Wife has been using similar to accent the Kitchen.
    Mr.H
    Nice chair! Who makes it?
    Peashooter
The brand is called Brunner, i think it is a German brand.

This particular ( conference chair ) is called Fina soft.

Going to fifties with " retro look " i think i forget i am old myself and do not have to resort to other older peoples retro, and fifties is the decade before my coming about decade.

My price was 290 USD with taxes. ( Danish 25 % sales tax )
The look of this chair i feel is much in line with the world renowned " Danish design " philosophy
Seem like next week will be a pew - pew week.
winds down under 10 MPH, so it dont get much better in Denmark.
And i will have the range to myself, CUZ my friend will be playing painter at the owner of a local Land Rover dealership where he still get his cars fixed even if he do not drive land rover any more.

Top graph temperatures in deg C ( so seemingly not a single summer day in view )
Bottom graph is the wind, and in the forecast that is the expected average wind in M/s but 4 M/s = 8. something MPH

    leadslinging.jpg

My M8 will leave a key for me, so i can say hello to my two doggo friends there.
I dont know who the joke is on.
    BUT !

Huma just posted that they made a O-ring kit for the DRS barrel kit.

So ?????? this many O-rings for just the GD barrel.

    DRSbarrelkitrings.jpg

I was afraid it would end like this.
It seem like this site are not strong enough to carry my presence, and in spite of me greatly improving ( if i have to say so myself ) in the past few decades on other fora, it seem like some of my flaws are pushing rules or peoples or admins buttons too hard.
So after several warnings now and post deletions lately it is probably best if i take my leave.

So i will log out now, and only come here as a reader in the future so as not to aggravate anyone.

Best wishes - lead and wind everyone.

The tone of this board has become one of run scared to say anything lest it offend someone, some agency, or some group. I am close to bailing myself. Lately there isn't much of any value here. Mostly crap about show me yours and I'll show you mine.

Its a typical gun site . Best to visit when you need info and then only believe about 20% what's being said. Kinda like gun shops seen too all have a know-it-all they let hang out.

Gents, why take it all so seriously…? Its a hobby to the majority and AGN is a privately owned site. For me, personally? AGN is an escape from the “real world” bullpoop afflicted on the US Citizen by a corrupt Federal Guvmint. Airguns, plinking and pesting help me escape, temporarily that crap…
It is generally not easy to really impress me ( in a good way ) as a person, and i absolutely do not have too high thoughts about my own people in their current state.

BUT ! Some times i am forced to bow my head in respect, for instance to a guy like Asbjørn Bruun.
The guy just finished as the first ever on ski the Iditarod Trail Invitational.

I have wondered if this guy is one of the Sirius patrol guys, these are the guys that run around northern Greenland summer and winter to put Danish boots on our island in the north.
Where as Americans and Russians might ram their sub up thru the ice, look around and go hell no / Blyiat and then leave again.
you may have been army and been to northern Norway on winter drills, but northern Norway is like a little refrigerator where northern Greenland is like a huge freezer.
And if you have lost your buddy,,,,,, for sure no one will hear you scream, not even if you run around screaming for a few weeks.

The new Danish king he also did Sirius Patrol,,,,, aside for him also being a full blow frogman with the call sign Pingo, so in that way i can respect the guy, CUZ very - very few make it thru Frogman school here.

December 7 have always been a sort of holy day for me, even if i have no dirent national or other tie, then that day is of significance to my people none the less, well the few remaining honorable and caring ones of us.
Mind you most other here are clueless even though they are big on things like Halloween and Denmark have for decades hosted the largest outside of the US July 4 celebrations, though that too are now just a small thing as our two countries have drifted apart and many dont care where they come from or where their family members went back in the day.
Seem like i am also a pretty decent long distance pellet slinger.

After playing a little today with the slugs, and the wind dying down a little, i figured why not try pellets too.
But i did change from 86 M to the even Steven 80 M distance.

Mind you, you still had to pay attention to the wind, at least if you wanted to hold all of your shots on the 2" target.
As it can be seen in the picture that was also true with the slugs.
Also you have to remember my wind indicators are leaves on trees at targets and then the tall grass in the field.

So i paused long range for a hour focussing on 50 M where a shot a 50 yard BR paper, but i am not going to share that as really it was no good at all.
So when the wind had died down a little more i changed to 80 M again for the remainder of my targets, and i quickly learned that the speed i shot 50 M with, it was no good at 80 M.
Actually i ended up shooting the JSB heavy pellets as speeds i dident even think worked for them, but at 80 M it was sort of OK.
Sort off, CUZ i still had the wind to work with and the ever changing POI on my Maverick i have to chase around with the scope.

BUT ! all things considering i am still pretty happy with the 400 slugs and few 100 pellets i spent at the range today.

    IMG_20230909_165320.jpg

I still wish i was able to shoot heavier stuff, even if it was just the next up caliber of .22
At first horrible day at the range today, mainly to blame on the wind that was not at all nice, so as i shoot a little up hill and the wind was spiraling my shots would drift sideways or also up and down.
The latter compounded by the Damn FX regulator, which i now just can not get to shoot the same speed, or i can get it to do that within very few FPS, but then 3-4-5 shots and BAM and i get a shot that is either slower by 10 - 20 FPS or faster by 10 - 20 FPS.
So i am getting one of the new FX regulators, and when it is installed i am so over FX rifles, and heading for another brand.

Mind you once the wind died down as it began to rain a little, well i think i shot my best BR 50 card with the maverick.
But it took more shots than are on the paper as i had to go off target now and then to get past one of those god damn randop sped shots, and then i could go back on the paper for a few shots / sighters.
So i have no ides how long you have to shoot a BR 50 paper in competition, but i took a long while compensating for the random speed shots, and then of course i also had to pay attention to the wind / the 1 wind vane i put up ( right next to target and made up of a strip of duct tape on a stick )
Anyway the paper look like this.

    BR50.jpg

I will update with a video of a few 82 M shots at 2" shoot N see targets, not really nice in the wind, but it what it is.

    A little video.
I had to speed up parts of it, you you guys will just fall asleep.
I just hate shooting in the wind, it put a element of chance into the game, and really aside for the occasional lotto ticket i am not big on games of chance.
Just like i would only engage in a bet when i am sure i will win it.
    Anyways here is the video.

Okay, got my picks in and have changed a couple of O-ringe on my Maverick, one in the regulator and the bottle one too.
On the face of it that seem to have worked, but i do not throw my arms in the air just yet, maybe tomorrow then the rifle have been overnight and the gauges still say the same pressures.

I will say who ever at FX that install those O-rings in such silly places, well they do not pay the person enough.
I will encourage FX think more about the people that are to maintain their rifles when they design in the future.
The 10X 1,5 mm ring at the base of the regulator hole, that should not be there, it should be on the regulator body itself, and so be 10 X more easy to replace.
Same go for the bottle O-ring, why is it down there in the hole in the bottle fitting, it should be on the male part on the rifle.
    Peashooter
Well  Bottle and rifle down to 50 BAR this "morning" nothing else to do but replace every other O-ring on the regulator i have not changed yet.
At least i was not able to feel hear the air leak last night, so i must be on the right path.
Really i should have replaced every O-ring yesterday, but i am a lazy old bastard.

Regulated pressure still fine, so the air are not leaking after the regulator.
I finally got one, and with my #2 rifle the AGT Vulcan 3

I was dialing a little back and forth on it, and dident like shooting pellets at 50 M, so even if i have said the V3 will just see pellets from now on, well i think i will just have to admit that i am a slug addict.

So i was shooting the 13 gr Zan slugs at the long range, and since we found the range finder it is verified by leupold to be 71 M as i was shooting from a table in front of our shot shed in the field.
Anyway was shooting at a bunch of stuff in the back of the field, until i saw a fly land on my week old cardboard shoot N see target backing.
So i figured, well you just shot a shot that was 2 inches low and 1/2 inch Left of where you aimed, so using that i took aim at the fly.
And i whacked it good, well good enough there was fly splatter beside the .177 hole.

    71M fly.jpg

We also agreed upon making some benches to shoot from not in out shed, but way further back, this will give me +120 - 125 M to the far end of the field, and then we will have to figure something 50 M for my friend, but i think that could be made at the end of the 20 foot container in the field used for driver tower when the boys race their big RC cars.
So gotta come up with a way to make 2 fixed bench rest tables for us, CUZ both of us are not happy shooting from the picnic tables we use now, not least seat being way too high VS the level of the rifle on the table.
