  • Had to shuffle around my ammo due to load bearing concerns, the .177 use to be in the same place as .22, but i dont think that is healthy for the kitchen cabinet, so have moved the .177 collection to a place of its own.

Okay there are also 10 grain JSB KO MK3 slugs in here, and a range tin of 24 and 20 grain Zan slugs, but otherwise it is mainly pellets.
The collection of Zan slugs mainly 16 and 13 grain so far live in cardboard boxes in the living room.
CUZ by far i shoot the most slugs, pellets is just playtime for me.

The MK3 slugs, well now that i have a DN scope i will try to get some permissions to smack rats. And my plan is to use those for that so i dont risk making too many holes in peoples stuff, CUZ that would be uncool.

Well well well it seem like someone at Danish customs have finally realized their mistake, also just took them 18 days to do so.
So i recon tomorrow i can pick up 2 parcels of ammo, which mean that on JTS 10.4 grain pellets and 10 grain ko MK3 slugs i will be well supplied.
Note to self need to find another place for .177 pellet collection, i dont think kitchen cupboard can carry much more weight .

As a side note my friend report that the rat action are back in the field, and we have agreed to bait them a second place a little behind the other place.

Danish sharp shooter Rikke Mæng Ibsen was triumphant in India in the 50 M / 3 positions discipline world cup final.
Runner up a Norwegian girl and the 3 spot was taken by a Chinese shooter.
The winning score was 466,2, i assume out of a 500 MAX ???

Rikke pretty happy having only manage a 14 spot at the Olympics.

There are also Danish participation in the 2 Skeet finals on Thursday.
Oneleaf NV500, shooting 13 grain Zan 75 M with a Epic Two with mountain range shaped shoestring, and still NO problem.

    Yes i am holding here, at this time i was dialed in for 55 M. 30 M - 80 M and 93 M distances was also satisfying.

I was at the recycling yard today with about 20 -30 years worth of accumulated paper.

Almost threw out some of my history.

On the very left is a " torpedo " it is a pressure release valve from the cargo tanks, i assume you have seen when tanker trucks get under a vacuum or for that matter too much pressyre,,,,,, you do NOT want to super size that.

The manifold where our cargo went in / out, i think never used at its full capacity, or for that matter even half of it.
Connected with a single 8" hose normally and running 1 pump it took a couple of days to empty the ship, pumping 24/7.
Took the same time filling the ship.

In the background a spare Cylinder liner bottom part of the pushrod, and a spare piston on the top part of a piston rod.
On the Left some spare Cylinder heads ( these are not tightened with tongue wrench like a car head would be, you pull the threaded rod ( about 2" in diameter ) that hold them long with hydraulics and then you hand tighten the nut, and then release the pull on the boldt )

There is also a spare exhaust valve somewhere, i know cuz we had to replace one while adrift in the Indian Ocean, the seat on one of those suckers, almost the size of a LP record.
Burned a hole in / by the seat, almost big enough to put your pinkie finger thru.

This engine topped out around 90 - 100 RPM, but we mostly ran around 80 something RPM, enough HP / torque to snap something really big.

This is back in 1991, before age set in,and my government ruined my dreams and mental health.

BTW the pictures was developed in Japan, by two girls in a photo shop, very giddy girls, i think they have naver seen a Gaijin that good looking before.
A few hours later with a belly full of Kobe steak - Japanese beer, and of course " warm Sake " i picked up my developed film, and the girls had calmed down.

Still think of that day, every time i get to Kill bill chapter 4 ( the Hattori Hanzo scene that always give me goosebumps )
    Days at the shot shed.
Yesterday dispensed of some pellets nice and easy, then packed my rifle as sun set and M8 brought night scope mounted Gamo arrow, and soon a big fat rat was history.

Getting cold at night 10 deg C or less, but with oven going nice and warm in the shot shed.
Not super warm, we both agree that come really cold, the diesel heater will have to come into play too.
But last night, no one was freezing while in the shed with 2 lanes ( shudders ) open for business.

    Shot shed Hygge.jpg

You have to really speed up the old fat guys to get any movement.

Today i got on dispensing the last few pellets, and then changed to 13gr slugs.
    5 shot groups @ 30 M shooting barracuda match average 907 fps.
Not particular nice groups, i have seen much better with other pellets.

Naturally in the shot shed, everyone is a VIP, and so you get the full VIP treatment.
so today at noon i got a order of fries to go with the peas i shoot.

Not long after, STOP !!!!!!!! said the valve in the Two as it developed a slow leak from the valve.

Okay so i tested my sawed off FX maverick today ( 700 to 600 mm )
And i will have to admit so far not a success, clearly i have a issue as groups are erratic, with a few really bad " fliers "

SO as i am not the surrendering kind, i have restored both barrels to a clean end, and i am now ready to proceed with trying ghetto crowning once again, and this time i will try others solutions VS the one i came up with myself.

Not able to blame my groups on the weather, it was excellent range weather.

Still think it is a crown issue VS saying that a FX barrel with no choke are not at all able to shoot, i am quite sure it should at least be able to shoot better than what i saw today, i just have to do a better job.

PS: i have looked at prices for a 600 mm Heavy barrel, but i would prefer to save those money for other things.

PPS. when not throwing erratics the STD FX liner was able to put dents / holes in a Metal plate 134 yards away and within acceptable distance of aim ( 2 " ), but it for sure was a POI chase.
    Peashooter
I cut both a standard barrel and a heavy barrel, the standard one was not too bad, but clearly not quite there either, the Heavy barrel was a mess and i only tried it like 10 shots a while back.
My Maverick are originally 600 mm, but as it came with a horrible barrel i changed to 700 mm when that became possible, and then the rifle worked just fine.

Cut off choke to maybe make the Maverick able to shoot heavier .177 slugs, CUZ as is i can only get 13 grain to fly well and 16 not bad but still not something i would shoot daily.
Cutting breech end would be a big mistake, not least as i do not have access to a lathe CUZ then i would not have this issue i think.
All out experiment here, i am also way past the FX rifle, but still like to play around, in the end i might have to buy a new Heavy barrel, and then donate the rifle to someone, probably my nephew.
    Firewalker
Yupper, you cut the wrong end off.
    Peashooter
well i new lead in i am not able to do without a lathe,,,,, and me figuring out how something like that should look in a airrifle.
I have seen in rifles you can get a reamer for various ammo, but not sure you get that for airguns, and even so probably too expensive.

Just wanted to see if loosing the choke would make changes CUZ the CZUB barrel on my Two ( no choke ) can / will shoot 16 grain slugs just fine, with pretty much same twist rate as FX barrels in .177 ( 1:17.7 )
Also some i have seen shoot FX Heavy barrels and 16 grain just fine, but i have tried like +1000 16 grain rounds in my not modified 700 mm Maverick and not been able to make that work.

Mind you, i am not lucky with barrels, Maverick was bummer in original 600 mm, and the first barrel on my Two the 700 MM LW barrel, had a massive choke in the middle 30 % of a barrel that was supposed to have 0 Choke.
Feeling frisky, so i think tomorrow i will bring the Maverick to the range and do some more testing in its sawed off state ( 700 mm to 600 mm )
Also need to redo the business end of the Heavy barrel, though crowning it will have to wait until i get home.

Not bringing any of the really heavy stuff, i think i will test with 13 grain i know very well performance of in 700 mm form, but i do also have some 16 grain in the ammo box if i like what i see.

Post up your days impressions… Why do you have to crown the Maverick?
    Peashooter
I crowned the FX barrels like i have seen SUB 12 airgunners do his,,,,, on a lathe mind you.
I did it with a drill and a handheld dremel on my living room table

Today after grinding a mm off the end of both barrels i did try the STD barrel again, but without even e ghetto crown it was even worse / bordering dangerous CUZ CTC spread on 10 shots on the container at 55 M had a spread of like 300 - 500 mm
At least with my ghetto crowning on the STD barrel it was only 200 mm at worst, and only like 2-3 out of 10 shots, others would group fairly nice.

Shot string also fine of course.

BTW if you drive a little further down the road with the google car, you will see houses with a little 5 X 4" or there about light grey box on the wall, that is the fiber optic internet, so this little POS village / town are hooked up for lightning fast internet.
Mind you 1 gbit are still the norm, but some places do also offer 2.5 gbit, and a select few places also 5 gigabit, that mean you can amass a serious pic collection in no time,,,,, if ! you are that way inclined.
    1 gbit on fiber = 15 USD/mo
Aside for ghetto fixing a snowpeak today.
I also managed to pull quite a few old obsolete wires from my car, shuffle around 1 piggy back fuse adapter for my hard wire setup, so i can draw more power when charging.
Remove a lot of power sockets in my glove box, and replacing them with a power source instead, so one of my cameras do not have to leech on the little battery in my little car while parked.
Not a huge power pack, none of them really are as is, but as i only use parking guard for 4 hours on timer it is just fine, the rest is up to permanent CCTV equipment.

Seem like i have caught a new addiction.
    Shooting pellets.

It never really worked well in my Maverick, well at least at the 86 M distance i shot at back then.
But my past 10 or so hours of shooting at the range have been mainly pellets, and shooting them from 30 M to 123 M ( +130 yards )
With the wind that was there, well a measly little 10.4 or so grain or so .177 pellet get pushed around a lot, so in regard to working the wind a learning experience for sure.
At 93 M / 100 yards, with a rifle zeroed for the occasional 0 wind / very little wind, well if i was quick about it i could put 3 pellets on a 2" target before the wind was back.
With the wind there, well you got blown L / R about 1 - 5 inches when it was bad, and some times you also got blow down on the paper, very few high shots for natural reasons.

So the crossman domed pellets, well 1000 of them gone, and they work really well at the shorter ranges,
The JSB Heavy ones, well lagged a bit behind the crosman pellets, but it might be a speed issue i have NOT touched my regulator in 2 outings now, and my last 10 hours of shooting, unusual i have not had a chrono dangling off my rifle.

But the kicker pellet, the JTS dead centers,,,,, i got to get me some more of those CUZ at 100 yards, distinctive better than the other pellets i tried.

Also on a whim i brought the 10 grain JSB KO / MK 3 slugs,,,,, and daum, in not insignificant wind i was putting slugs on a thin wooden pole at 130 yards,,,,, and many in a row very few misses due to wind.
So i only had 1 tin of those,,,,,, THAT ! will soon change .

My friend shooting his .22 Cutlass, with the 15.something grain JSB pellets, well lets just say he is now a long range shooter too, though due to his old scope he can not hang at 130 yards, but 100 he do just fine with the old rifle.

Here is my first paper of yesterday shot at 100 yards, with the JTS pellets.
Bit of Chaos here, later i got to judge wind better, as in hold my shots to there was less of it, or the 3 wind flags was at least showing mostly the same direction, CUZ in 100 yards the wind was often 3 different directions.

    100ypellets.png

Today i did short range stuff, pruning leaves and twigs of a tree, or shoot 1 hole groups in paper at 30 M
Both fairly easy due to surprising little wind early in the day.

At 53 BAR on the regulator, my long rifle was sipping air, i could get used to shooting like that ( around 930 fps )

Will be adding a video later on.
2 days of nice air gunning over.
Started out rough, having to fix leaks in my old .22 Cyclone, as it turned out it was both ends of the air pipe, though just the valve in the front, the back both had valve and also the outer 22 mm O-ring that crumbled when i tried to remove it.
Then yesterday i hit the ground running / okay then crawling after having unloaded 2 complete kits of air gunning equipment.
Especially the old 12 L 200 BAR tank was a pain.
Then we went to you lumber yard / DIY store to pick up some wood for my friends projekt, and i picked up a handle / latch for the shot shed, and also 2 rubber tiles. which i am sure i will shoot strait thru, well at least where they are only 15 mm thick due to drainage pattern on the back.
While 30 mm thick in other places i am sure this will not be enough for a backstop, will have to brainstorm more on this.

So i installed the door handle / latch, and then set forth shooting my Cyclone, which wouldn't you know can shoot a little faster if you give it the last 1.5 revolutions on the hammer spring adjuster before it bottom out on something, but i gained like 60 FPS

Tested 22 grain Dead centers, and they are not bad, but would probably be better with a little more speed.
My friend not entirely convinced we had already tested the 18.13 Jumbo heavy a decade ago, well he is a believer now,,,,, and very much a potential buyer of a few tins of those.
Same go for the 16.08 grain Dead centers, also pretty sweet shooting pellets.
The 14.35 grain Jumbo express ones though, well topping out over 1000 FPS, they was a bit too fast for their own liking i think, we did not try them on MED transferport setting, everything was high of course.
The 16 grain snow peak diabolos was not a success at the speeds we saw.

    IMG_20240803_222451.jpg

So i have already compiled my next shopping list for pellets.
    I want:

16.08 dead centers, and i think they also have a 18 grain version i want that too.
And then i need to stock up on 18.13 grain Jumbo heavies.

And as i tried my #2 to last tin of 4.5 mm beasts in my Two today, and the 700 mm CZub barrel liked it very much i have to say, well need me some more of that in 4.5 mm. 25 - 75 M seemed excellent and it will be better when i un- experiment my Two rifle.

Of course i also blew thru a couple of boxes of 16 grain Zan slugs, not at a good speed, and for sure not with the experiment i had going on the Two.

But all in all when i am shooting, its a damn good day, or in this case damn good couple of days.
    Peashooter
Made a target recording too today, it would seem like Insta studio did not like me messing with the speed of the original 4K / 120 recording, so it fall apart.

WARNING: loose +2 minutes of your life..

93 M / 100 yards i think, the game is Annihilate the red base 2" style.

    Sort of related.

My computer chair was collapsing on me in spite of only being a year old.

    IMG_20240726_133849.jpg

So i went looking for a better used chair, and found this one.

    IMG_20240726_132620.jpg

Only adjustable in height, but still able to "kick back" in it, and i often need that when the stupidity of the world overpower me, and i have to push myself a little away from the screen and shake my head in disbelief.

I do like the reto look of the cast ALU frame on it, could also be the blue color that give me a fifties feel about it.

PS. No matter what direction i aim a camera in my living room, a gun case or two will sneak into frame :)
    Chief Ten-Beers
It does have that "70's" Retro look about it! My Wife has been using similar to accent the Kitchen.
    Mr.H
    Nice chair! Who makes it?
    Peashooter
The brand is called Brunner, i think it is a German brand.

This particular ( conference chair ) is called Fina soft.

Going to fifties with " retro look " i think i forget i am old myself and do not have to resort to other older peoples retro, and fifties is the decade before my coming about decade.

My price was 290 USD with taxes. ( Danish 25 % sales tax )
The look of this chair i feel is much in line with the world renowned " Danish design " philosophy
Seem like next week will be a pew - pew week.
winds down under 10 MPH, so it dont get much better in Denmark.
And i will have the range to myself, CUZ my friend will be playing painter at the owner of a local Land Rover dealership where he still get his cars fixed even if he do not drive land rover any more.

Top graph temperatures in deg C ( so seemingly not a single summer day in view )
Bottom graph is the wind, and in the forecast that is the expected average wind in M/s but 4 M/s = 8. something MPH

My M8 will leave a key for me, so i can say hello to my two doggo friends there.
I dont know who the joke is on.
    BUT !

So ?????? this many O-rings for just the GD barrel.
