N/A EVOL vs Epic two

In reading some responses along this thread, I'm taking the position that of not inferring copywrite infringement. Yes, there are similarities in the epic 2 to comparable brands. However, these guys separated from Taipan and wanted to put advances into their offering and solved power demands along similar lines as AAA and Edgun, with their own distinctive feel to their platform. I have shot edgun leshey 2 REPR, Evol, and Epic 2. They all have their own distinct FEEL. You could blindfold me and I can tell you which is which. Of course, comparisions will be made, that's the nature of things. I just observe and enjoy each for what they are, enjoy the efforts made by the creators, and lastly, observe what I would have liked differently on them.

With all due respect @PumaCarl, whether 6061 or 7075 the Epic 2 is sweet. Was just checking out their website, it seems to be a very nice addition to the PCP world.
I never ever said or implied that it wasn't, I said that if someone is just looking for the best, no compromise in materials, airgun, the Evol is a step up, at the top of a very high set of stairs, compared to just about everyone else, shy of bespoke guns. My sub-$300 airguns are sweet too, all airguns are pretty sweet once you figure them out.

Because it went off the rails quick as the thread started before the rifle was out. I know myself, personally, was calling out Epic for blatantly copying the Evol line. And there were a few others as well. And that is when things went off the rails quickly.

I have heard that the barrels are interchangeable between the two rifles.
I know the tension systems are not interchangeable, very close but not exact. I haven't had the barrel out of my Epic 2. The Evol barrel is a different set up from what I have seen before. So I doubt the barrels are interchangeable. The Evol is on top, Epic 2 on the bottom.

I have a couple of EVOLs and an EPIC One. Yes, it's different than the 2 but there are a lot of similarities. The biggest I've found is clearly weight! The EVOL is a lot lighter then my One (currently 700mm barrel in .25, but I have others that I can switch out that will lighten it up a bit.) Both are more accurate than me. I have the TJ barrel in 2 of my EVOLs and the SubMOA in the third. The Epic .25 and .22 I have CZ barrels but the .30 is an LW which I have not changed out yet.

Epic has said that the balanced valve in the One is a bit different than the Two and I have not found a "fall off" shot coming out of the gun on the first shot. If you are after a lot of power then the Epic is more configurable to more FPE than the EVOLS and I have put the plenum extensions in all of mine.

TBH, it would be very difficult making me choose between one or the other. Build quality on both are outstanding. Both are very hardy guns. The Epic is definitely better with slugs than the EVOLs, but they are both great with pellets.

I don't think one can go wrong with either. Or be like me, get one of each!

I agree with @jwrabbit123 on the weight and the cocking on the older EVOLS. I have one of the new ones that has the new cocking mechanism and it is easier to cock than my other AAAs, but still not as easy as the Epic. That gun also has the external reg adjuster whcih makes it as easy to adjust as my Epic. The weight on that one is closer to the Epic due to the subMOA barrel which is not light. Not knowing what the price on the Epic light will be, the EVOL .30 was $2650 and if the Epic will be sold for $1650 ($1000 off), it will be a steal!

i had a evol 30 and a evol 22 mini , my mini had a catastrophic failure on my kitchen table the screw in the cocking lever seared and the hammer and spring and adjuster all broke , it litterly took me 6 months to get parts , 2 months after I got it , and if it were not for Shane from AOA I probably would of never got parts , I contacted airarms 20 times ,I liked gun but service was among the worst , I even had to pay for my warranty parts which gun was never apart when it had failed , I traded my evol mini for the epic and it had a 22 and 25 cal barrel , so I got to use it and wow it is very simular gun I never would of known this , but guy I traded my gun told me they had same design he was correct , I did get rid of epic after collecting data , but when I light weight comes out I think I will own one LOU

Hi I also want to add this , Epic service is by far very good , the guy here who has a few epics , when he needs a part , the messeges factory and they send him seals ofr parts like next day , also if he asks a question , the owner of company answer's him same day , this is is a great company who cares about us , If you try to contact evol I tried with toms cell , he first lists no number and if you email , like many here did no answers , this is not good when you lay out $3k and u on your own

@jwrabbit123 - I agree with you 100%. Epic has been exceptional on support and anserwing questions. I had one of the first Epic Ones and David the CEO gave me timelines on when he would have videos ready to help with tuning and caliber changing. I could not ask for more. Just the opposite with AAA. If it weren't for AoA doing the support, I never would have bought one! I sent many emails that were never answered to AAA. I guess you have to be a a certain heirarchy on order to receive any type of correpsondance! AoA has been wonderful on the support of the AAA line.

I really like the platform of both guns. I would be more likely to buy an Epic as I've read too many stories about people waiting for parts for a long time, and other stories about very slow customer service with AAA. The only issue with the Epic, for ME, is that I would want a barrel option IN BETWEEEN 12" and 22".
