FX Impact M3 .22 Grouping Problems

Each barrel is different and may not like that slug.

For example; I have a Wildcat mk3 Sniper(700mm) barrel which shoots the 23 Grain from H&N slug in .218 like a laser. If I try the .217 diameter, groups arent good. Same for FX Hybrid Slugs. I tried Knockouts in the past aswell, shotgun pattern.

Its all about finding what your barrel likes and what not. Pellets are more forgiving.

You could buy some test samples from other brands (Zan,h&n,NSA,…)

Thankyou Ries, I have just ordered some H&N 21g .217to try hopefully I'll get some results from them. But like you say might be worth ordering some sample. Shotgun pattern actually describes what I'm getting very well! I've also tried the fx hybrid slugs and didn't get great results from them either. Pro ably better than what I'm getting from the Jsb KO'S though.
Thanks again

Are you using a slug liner or the standard liner? That can make a big difference. I went through some stuff lately with my 600 mm trying to shoot slugs. 23 gr 217 NSA’s shot pretty good out of it. 24.8 217’s the groups opened up. The next weight up I had on hand were 27.5, 217 NSA’s and those gave why bother results.
I put my slug liner in and things tightened up very nicely with the 24.8’s and then a local maker of slugs was in the shop and asked me to shoot some 26 grain slugs he had just made. They shot very well at short range.
I talked to FX USA and Newman told me the break point for a slug liner being beneficial was around 23 grains. In other words the 23‘s still shot good out of the standard liner and out of the slug liner. Anything heavier benefited from the faster twist rate.
the other thing to check is if you have the slug port facing down. When I got my Impact the pellet port was facing down and velocity was not consistent with slugs and higher reg pressures. I switched to the slug port and things improved a lot.
I just bought some NSA 23’s in 218 and some Zan 23’s in 218 to try. Local shop swears FX barrels generally prefer the .218 slugs. We will see.

sometimes,
the slug you want to shoot,
just doesnt like your barrel, sad but true.

if it groups good with pellets,
then your search for an accurate slug isnt over.

i have tried about 20+ different weights/styles of slugs in my M3 .25 ......and
...........
..........
............im still shooting pellets lol

your mileage may vary lol
