I have a couple Haenel III's. They are DRP rifles. They are keepers. The quality is second to none. I love simplicity and lockup. I have rebuilt both, and they shoot like new. Ninety years young. Anybody else out there feel the same?

I had one. A Model III DRP.... Foolishly sold it when I took my journey into the PCP world. What I wouldn't give to have it back again...I agree, I have 2 Model III’s one is nearly 98 years old (10/1927) and was rebuilt last year, the other is tore down at the moment made in 1932 and I have a Model 1 (12/1935) it is rebuilt as well. Attached are pictures of my working model III and model 1.

Haenel Suhl produced a full line of weapons including bayonets and even MP38/40 pistol-machine guns.Their latest development is the Olympic level match rifle Haenel MLG 550, a fantastic rifle. Saw it once a couple of years ago in Hickory, but the owner refused to sell it to me.To my regret, he simply brought his Haenel collection to the exhibition and did not plan to sell anything.I have newer models, the Haenel Modell 303 Super Target and two Modell 303 Plain. I expected to see Haenel on them, but they were Suhl Modell 303. They are well-built air rifles.I know the Suhl also made good target .22 rimfires.
Holy Grail, Indeed!!!! Was not aware of this one. Thanks for the link. The Haenel model 5 is one of the airgun collector "holy grails!"
It was a fantastic pre-war tap-loading underlever, with an ingenious repeating action that had a flat drum over the loading tap. As you can see from these photos, the cocking lever both indexed the drum, and opened to tap to take another pellet; closing the lever closed the tap. The drum held 18 pellets!
