If you don't plan on reusing the lead, what do you guys do with it? Trashing it does not sound very environmentally friendly. Sending it somewhere would be rather expensive.
For me, I plan to cast some into a couple 'bricks' for my kids as a remembrance of one of my favorite things. All from personally used pellets. I only capture a fraction of my shot lead but I'm getting close to 30lbs collected so I'm also getting close to getting a melting pot and figuring out how to cast a couple of bricks. Beyond that effort, I'll give it away to a local shooter that casts at home.
Recycling is a crap shoot these days but lead is something that can be re-used and is appreciated by those who would otherwise be melting wheel weights and the like. If my current project works out well, I may invest in another steel plate and do the same kind of thing for my main range at 75y, that would dramatically increase my ability to save the lead.
