Moderator Adapter for Steyr’s LP50

I got the LP 50 moderator adapter installed today!
Two tiny grub screws. Perfect fitment.
Excited to test it this Sunday.

Here we go, once the factory tip was removed via 1 grub screw you just slide in the adapter while lining up the grub screw retention hole.

Nope, the standard LP50.
While many of my dot sights are Holosun's, this is the Leupold, Deltapoint Pro. It's an older version with the "Delta" (solid triangle) for a dot.
Wow, that 0DB is one long muffler. I've got the shorter 0DB on a rifle. It works pretty well.

I don’t notice any real sound suppression with any moderator on my LP50 HP. Oh well, it looks cool but that’s about it.

I believe others have taped over the barrel bents which seem to really help, along with a moderator.

Love my new (to me) LP50 HP pistol but it is a bit too loud for use in my back yard. I’ve tried a couple of different moderators that help a little, but the pistol still has a serious bark and I’m sure most of it is coming from the three ports on top of the barrel. I folded up a small towel...

I saw that thread and a number of folks have come up with some innovative ideas to diminish the sound level.
Maybe when Steyr (hopefully) gets the LP50 ACTION from prototype to finished product and out to consumers they'll sell the "Newly designed barrel cover without vents with UNF adapter for usage of silencers." as a separate accessory to current LP50 owners.
They know "the bark" is an issue for some customers so hopefully this will address that for folks that use the pistol for other than in competition settings.
I'm thinking........backyard plinkers?

I have a friend that recently ordered one from them.
Shipping was "quick as Krale"
Arrived in about 4 days from India.
Adapter $23.99 + Shipping $17.11 = $41.10 total
He says it looks like a nicely manufactured piece and fits his LP50 very well.

A moderator helps, but two turns bubble wrapping reduced the sound even more. I am certain there are more effective sound reduction material that will keep the “Steyr blast” down, but this was what I had available at the moment.

(Just kidding but) 8 or 10 turns of bubble wrap or 1 XL Tee shirt would probably work even better.
To most folks surprise, there's a LOT of noise that comes from between the breech & the end of the barrel on these RF & HP guns. That's even after you've taken steps to block off the 3 holes drilled in the top of the barrel. Don't know about the standard LP50. I haven't heard one of those lately.
I've recently contacted Allen Zasadny to see if he can make me one of his super quiet shrouds for it. Surprise....I haven't heard back from him yet.
We have a local IHMSA Silhouette monthly match I use mine for as well as some "cool weather" pistol fun matches over at an air gun range near Tucson.

Still waiting to see if Steyr will make this shroud available if they ever release this prototype rifle.

I used some Dynamat material attached to some Ballistics cloth and wrapped it around the barrel with small Velcro straps. Works great to snuff the ports.

I went a step further and took this thin brass sheeting (a little thicker than aluminum foil) and used a little 3M spray adhesive on it to stick it down over the 3 ports drilled in the upper barrel on my LP50-RF. The clearance is so tight between the "shroud / barrel surround" and the barrel that's the only thing that would fit and still let me slip it back on.
I couldn't use something like @stoutblock is showing in his picture because there isn't enough clearance between the air cylinder and the bottom of the "shroud / barrel surround" for the velcro straps to pass through. VERY tight clearance on mine.
Anyway, it does block off the air from escaping but the pistol, but, even with a Weihrauch moderator on it is still louder than I'm comfortable with for "backyard friendly".
For a pistol that's tuned to 4.8 fpe, it sure lets out a heck of a crack when you pull the trigger.
