That is anecdotal and I've had the opposite. They request you file a police report to confirm authenticity, and upon providing them with a report they will follow up, at least in my case. YMMV. It's why I said use paypal + cc for dual protection, and even your bank may require such reports be filed prior to taking any action.

In my case the shipper didn’t file a police report so no recourse was possible

You need to inform Michael the forum owner asap and the police. Criminals should to be punished along with returning the stolen property.
Cops won't do anything been there done that this guy has been doing this for years. I personally contacted them when he stole mine and had plenty of evidence and because we are all out of state it's a civil matter and what it would cost in time and lawyers the loss is better and he knows that. I just want to spread awareness as I don't want a bad apple to ruin the community I love. This scammer has been doing this for YEARS.

This is one of the reasons I pushed (unsuccessfully) for 100 meaningful posts before gaining access to the classified section and if you spam to 100 you never get access. I've seen this on other forums and it's the only thing that worked to stop scammers. They won't put that much time into multiple accounts to scam on. If you really want to stop scammers on a forum you can... 99% anyway. Some forums just want maximum traffic to pump up their revenue stream.
His original account was had 370 posts and positive feedback with Multiple sales he lays lower gets involved does sales and than does a big take. He broke the one I got from me an I also made my serial number public so I think that pushed his plan to do another take so fast.

USPS or FedEX does not insure packages stolen after delivery, and op's scammer certainly would have no issue signing for it. In his case with the trading of guns, the only way to prevent being scammed is having a middle man whom is sponsored by the site or the like.

A guy I worked with, always signed his name as King of all the Prussia’s when a signature was required. The UPS or FedEx guy did not care what he signed. All he cared about was a signature.

I wonder if small claims court would be a good approach. In my county small claims is $250 to file & 5k limit on claim.

He uses a handful of addresses. Also you are able to look up addresses on fb?
The 506 Heatherhill address is his current address. His cell # used in this crime is current & a few people have it. Also if you look at the USPS MO he forged over John Cully name, he has it hand written as Anthony Jarvis Jr. then sighned it at bank as just Anthony Jarvis.

I scanned through all the msg's, not sure if anyone caught/mentioned this. The name of the Realtor on Zillow that sold that house is Anitra Jarvis. Anitra is 44 and has a relative named Anthony also 44. Her current address is 422 Briarwood Dr, Columbus, 43213 Ohio. I'm thinking they are using, or at least he is using empty listed homes to scam folks.

Sorry that happened to you, do what you can with the info I've found. Take care.

I was told by John Cully aka Anthony Jarvis that anitra was his daughter I am thinking sister cousin wife. Anitra owns a realaste business and those are the 2 current addresses being used to scam people. We really need someone in this group that is or knows a police officer in the Ohio area that can help up. I have found information as far back as 2017 and I know it goes farther back for scams.
