Diana Sportsmatch mounts

Hello, I need a set of 1" medium 11 mm Sportsmatch scope mounts for my Diana 34. I found one or two on Ebay and was getting ready to order.

Then, I looked on Airguns of Arizona, and I found three pages worth.

Where do you buy your mounts, and what model would you buy for a two-piece mount for a Diana 34? How much do you pay?

Hey Mister Bill, one thing you may want to consider is adding a dovetail to picatinny rail adapter that has some elevation compensation built into it. I only say this as most Diana I have require this type of mount because of "barrel droop". What happens WITHOUT the compensation is, you will not be able to adjust your scop downward enough. The only Diana I have that didn't require this is a .22 model 34 T06.

This is good advice. For what it's worth Sportsmatch has droop compensating one piece mounts but then your back to clearance and spacing issues all one piece mounts have. I personally prefer the least amount of stuff sandwiched between the scope and rifle when possible. Sometimes it's unavoidable.

I have the Diana EMS. The dovetail is machined into the receiver, and barrel droop has not been a problem so far. It does kick like a mule, and I found my scope moving in my mounts. I thought the Sportsmatch might help with that.

They will. And dont put tape between the scope and the rings. That makes it worse. The cheap rings come with "friction tape" to compensate for scope bores that aren't perfect round and or aligned. The scopes slip because there isn't full contact. Make sure youre scope is still round. It's common to over tighten the rings trying to stop the sliding. If the scope tube is oval it may have a problem sliding with any ring because it might not make full contact.

Its important to make sure all scopes, rings and dovetails are degreased well and dry. As well as properly torqued. Sportsmatch ring cap specs will oval most scopes. Use the scope manufacturers specs instead. That usually falls around 16-17 inlbs. A wheeler fat wrench is a worthwhile investment. My R1 is a Hammer and a set of T04C tightened to 16 inlbs at the caps and 53 at the dovetail holds an Airmax scope like a rock.

The Sportsmatch mounts are only available from AOA I think. They are good mounts and won't slip.

I use them on my D34 and they work great. I have them on every pellet rifle I shoot with a scope. I've never had a mounting issue. I have had many issues using an array of other mounts, rails and rings.

If the scope slips in the rings it's usually due to uneven/improper ring torque or a poor interface between the scope and ring saddle. A drop of lacquer or some CA glue works great to get a slippery mount to hold. I've never needed it with Sportsmatch or Burris rings. But you can get creative and make almost anything work.

The Burris Signature rings with the inserts are dandy. You can't go wrong. They solve every mounting issue you may have. They are just a few bucks more than Sportsmatch and (IMHO) even better. You can get offset inserts to correct an alignment issue with the Burris. Thats a big deal with a springer. The Sportsmatch rings don't have that option.
