RAW Rapid  Are my expectations to high?

I purchased a RAW HM1000X in .25 about 3 months ago and was told that it was tuned for 33.95gr JSB pellets shooting around 900fps. I am weight and head sorting pellets and while the SD and ES are fantastic I am not having any
luck with grouping at 50 yards. I have tried lowing the fps to about 865 to 910 without much of a difference. I recently decided to try a barrel tuner like I use on my Rimfire and centerfire rifles and there have been some spots that look promising. I am wondering if maybe trying a different weight or manufacturers pellet may be worth a shot or am I just expecting too much from a pcp rifle? I am only looking to use this rifle for bench rest so shooting small is the goal.

I have attached a tuner test from this morning.

Accessories  NLA Free Huma-Air Tuning Hammer Springs for Impact/Dreamline/Crown/Maverick/Wildcat

Today I am giving away two packages of brand new (10 total) Huma-Air Tuning Hammer Springs for Impact/Dreamline/Crown/Maverick/Wildcat for free. These springs retail from Huma for about $7.00 each, but I am giving them away for free except for charging $20.00 to cover the cost of shipping to anywhere in the CONUS. These hammer springs are used to replace the FX original hammer springs when tuning for more power.
I no longer need these springs and am giving them away for free as part of my "spring cleaning" initiatve. Sometimes I just have to broom out some of the parts I seem to mysteriously accumulate!

FX  FX Impact M3 another attempt to fix POI shift

I was watching RTI Mora on the shot show.

The interesting thing is that the person told that the barrel of Mora is free floating. It doesn't touch the block. However if someone needs another point of contact it may be at the point from where the barrel comes out of the block.

Hence maximum two contact points only.

I removed all O rings that hold the barrel of M3 into the block. Then inserted the barrel in M3. The barrel entered butter smooth.

Now I tightened the grub screw at the breach and the barrel holder at the front. No other contact of barrel with the gun.

The POI moved 1.5" upwards at 24 yards. It shows that in presence of O rings there was some stress on the barrel.

Let's see how long it holds POI and what is the behaviour over a longer period.

Just an experiment without any cost.

Western Airguns  Think I will like the Sidewinder!

Working on my daughters basement this weekend, but had to at least try 3 magazines in my basement 10 yard range just to see how it handles. Put the pocket chrony on and ended up 25 clicks down on the power adjuster to get the JSB 18 gr. Dow to 830 fps. Very smooth and accurate (of course at 10 yds it should be😬) then the last mag flipped the fun switch to auto and let it fly! Can’t wait to get it outside and see how it does at 25, 50 and 100 yards.

Air Arms  Re: LCS SK-19 Ripoff

I bought a LCS SK-19 from Airguns Of Airzona. A year later the trigger broke and will not work. AOA told me to send to LCS. I went to their web site, lcsairarmss.com and they have an email address and a "Whatsapp" phone number. I sent an email and Rickey sent me an address where to send it. He said it will take 3-4 weeks to repair. It's been over 5 weeks and Rickey will not respond to my emails. He also will not answer the messages I sent. I google earthed the address and it's the post office. I did a corporate search and LCS Air Arms does not exist. I'm screwed!

Am I the only one?

I have had two scopes recently that I couldn't zero at ten yards because I ran out of elevation. One was 6 inches low. Before everyone starts to tell me about barrel droop the scopes were mounted on a PCP and a multi pump Crosman 362 with a steel breech.

I center the reticle on scopes before I mount them -- saves a lot of adjusting. In most cases the amount of adjustment is minimal.

I returned one and was told it was in spec -- I don't think so. The only way I could zero it was to use a compensation mount. Even then mounted with the reticle centered it took a lot of elevation to zero.

I've mounted a lot of scopes and these two scopes were the only ones that I consider to be defective.

Big boy

Here around the rancho I take about 50 ground squirrels every year, including (and with compliments) some for the neighbors. It was rainy here today, and they don't like rain. But late in the afternoon it cleared and I went out for a look. This guy was out in the open but when he spotted me he ducked into some shrubs. Soon he popped his head up and I popped his head with my RAW HM1000.

Biggest I've seen. Brought him home and laid him out near the house - hopefully a meal for one of the bobcats who live around here.

Hello old friends and new…

Hello everyone. It’s been a few months since I’ve posted and before that I hadn’t been posting much, just kind of checking in. I do still read interesting or relevant posts when time allows and try to check the classifieds periodically for great deals.

Alex and I are still shooting and testing slugs, just not as much as we had been with Coop. Our focus as always, are slugs and slug testing. There are some great slugs coming from at least five competing manufacturers. All of these slugs show great promise at very long distances. There are also a few with interesting new designs, concepts and extremely heavy weights for caliber, which is now possible because of the very powerful airguns here in the USA… With more to come! When the weather clears and our range is no longer underwater, I’ll share some thorough results… Accuracy from 50-325yds, the real BC for each airgun/barrel, the best velocity window, the ES & SD from a variety of airguns & barrels(CZ,LW, LW-Poly, Skout, FX, TJ’s).

Anyway, on to my point… There are so many of you here on AGN that I’ve become close friends with over the years, those I’ve met once or twice at a shoot, were in my squad or relay at RMAC, maybe bought or sold from here on AGN, messaged me for slug advice, talked over the phone, messaged via the internet or whatever. The one thing in common is that airgunners are a great group of really awesome people. I wanted to thank everyone again for the outpouring of love and support over the past few months, for the donations, gifts and for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We are truly blessed to have so many of you as friends!

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, you guys are a great bunch of people!

One other thing, Cooper shot a RAW HM1000x and won a Masterpiece Arms chassis for it at RMAC. He was so freakin excited. We are going to get it hydrodipped in his honor and keep it forever. His favorite color was purple. I’d love to hear some suggestions for a unique hydrodip pattern that has some purple in it… Some kind of purple camo, metallic purple, color shift purple/blue, etc… I just want to know what you guys think would look cool.

New JSB Hades Monster 22 cal...not for long range...

hello everyone, I got my tin of the new Hades Monsters in 22 cal a little while ago and just got to test them out today. ill just cut to the chase and spare you all the boring details and all that. in my Avenger bull pup shooting at about 890 FPS, at 45 yards they are more than capable of keeping 10 shots within half an inch. pretty decent right? well, move the target out to 77 yards and WOAH! groups opend up to 4.5 inches. to be fair, I didn't expect much better, but I really would have liked better than that. maybe they want to be moving slower, or faster, who knows. I also shot a group at the same distance with the 22 cal JSB 25.39 grain pellets, 7 shot group was 1.5 inches, with 6 of those 7 being within an inch, and 3 of them in the same hole. something to keep in mind, my tin of the Hades Monsters was badly damaged in transit, most of the pellets have imperfect skirts, I did cherry pick the pellets for that group, but even then most of them were still not as nice looking as the normal JSB 25.39gr. hopefully over time this will be resolved, maybe its a weight distribution issue, or maybe just the skirts being bent up. I will possibly test slower speeds, but my hopes are not high, I didn't see any pellet stacking to indicate that they're going to fast, and from what I could see thru the scope (which wasn't much to be fair) the pellets looked to be stable, no flashing or anything like that in flight. have you guys tested these out yet? if so, are your findings similar to mine? just to be clear, I am in no way bashing or hating on these new pellets at all. I love JSB pellets, and I love the Hades pellets, if anything im sharing my lack luster accuracy data because I really like JSB and really want these new pellets to work for them.

Missing a screw, watcha gonna do?

This gun is over 100 years old. I don’t think they’re making screws for it anymore. So I found a screw in my spares that I have to modify.

Very hard to do one handed so you don’t get to watch the whole thing!

Devastated Starling…

They have been coming in to the suet cakes and getting comfortable, there were maybe a dozen out there today. This one came in alone and volunteered to be my first pest bird kill, as you can see it simply crumples at the shot. Atomic XR .22 with Arken Zulus atop sending CPHPs starling at 20 yards.

Shooting Funk!

Ok, I have been shooting airguns for 22yrs plus,
Short range competition (25m) for 10yrs.

Here’s my issue, problem, my Funk! It just has become not fun or exciting, almost work! My guns I currently own are not as accurate as I think they should be and I’m about done trying to tune them to become so.

My short range 20ftlb gun is the only gun that is consistently accurate, now this is fine but I’m trying to move my ranges out to 100yds. And if I can’t get these guns to be consistently accurate at 50yds. How can I practice and and work on my long range target shooting skill set when I can’t trust the gun?

I know this a trivial and self centered post but I just have to put it out there, maybe someone else out there has been through something similar?
