Prairie dog skull

Found this in one of the fields where I shoot pdogs.

Theyre easier to anchor than a squirrel, but not quite as fragile as a rabbit.

Head shots are best, boiler room next.

Looking at the skull gave me some thoughts on shot placement and thought I'd share in case it can help anybody else.

That brain isn't a large target.

PCP Rifle  SOLD SPF (added better pics) Airforce Talon w/ Leshiy 2 rear + STO Sarissa + 2 extra barrels SPF

This is a weird one, I essentially created a Panthera out of Leshiy 2 parts and an Airforce Talon a couple years before the Panthera was a thing.
So this is essentially an externally regulated Talon, that is easier to shoot with a lower cheek weld. AKA redneck Panthera :)

12" .22 barrel installed
+18# .22 barrel
+ 12# .177 barrel
REPR Regulator + Leshiy 2 butt stock
replaced the handle with a picatinny rail to add bipod or grip, sling ready
STO Sarissa ths

$700 shipped - I'm enjoying the break barrel life these days.

N/A  So any new rifles coming out or should i just buy the panthera?

Good day Airgun community,

So I've been deciding for 2 months on purchasing a panthera over the dynamic because I prefer the back fill on the Panthera. I already have a fx M3 but I know that the 2024 shot show will be coming out and I'm assuming that fx will probably bring out something new. Do you think they will and if not are there any new daystate guns or anything coming out?

This is going to be a long post. Please be sure to read everything and ask any questions in PM. Happy to speak on the phone as well.

I have a solid reputation on AGN as an excellent seller and buyer. Can provide member references upon request.

I have enjoyed this Leshiy 2 in multiple setups since I first purchased it as part of the first 100 L2s to hit the US. SN# 0232. But it's time to move it on to a new home for someone else to enjoy as I've settled in more to target style shooting.

This setup will easily hit 100fpe with 50gr pellets with 160bar on the reg for the 600mm barrel. In 250mm setup it will hit ~60fpe at 160 bar.

This setup is very indoor friendly even at 100fpe with the Behemoth moderator on the 600mm barrel. I would recommend a Sarissa (not included) to quiet down the 250mm setup as it fits perfectly under the CF handguard.

I will list out some of the major components of the package. But, this Leshiy 2 has way too many updates over time to calculate a 'new' price. I will leave it that the buyer is getting a heck of a deal and it would be a significant investment above asking price to acquire everything included here. The airgun is in very good condition with minimal wear to be found. The original valve rotation mechanism was rebuilt earlier this year by Brian at EGW and works 100%. There is a spare full newer valve included as well - this is setup with jets for the 600mm barrel.

Not looking for recommendations, yet.

When I realized my airgun was defective, Umarex said they'd replace it. After that conversation, they blocked my number. Everytime I called, the call was terminated before it rang.
Using a different phone, I called again and the order has not been processed/shipped after they received it Monday. And they said that I probably won't get it for another 2 weeks.
I'm not confident in getting it at all since they blocked my number. The Sparrows are becoming more bold since I'm not outside much.
Is it okay to whine on this forum? I really miss the airgun and shooting sparrows. I may have to suck it up and purchase another one. If so, that's when I'm gonna need recommendations from you all.
Thanks for letting me whine!

KnockOut MK3 from JSB — Any photos, any details?

Well, JSB is launching the KnockOut MK3
and inquiring minds would like to know...! 😃

ᗝ May I see a comparison photo between the MK 1, 2, and 3?
I'm especially interested in the hollow point shape and dimensions.

ᗝ I would love a hollow point expansion comparison — in realistic ballistic material (flesh, or 10% ballistic gel) — and at realistic velocities.

ᗝ I don't even own a .177cal. When will we get an MK3 in other calibers?

Thank you, JSB, for the new slugs and pellets you've announced. 👍🏼

Matthias 😊

Taking advantage of planned obsolescence or just being happy with what you have, either way you win.

I can’t help but notice a trend where we are convinced we need the latest PCP or that manufacturers that don’t update yearly are no longer worth a look. Two examples are Air Arms and AirForce. You can’t have a thread about either without mention of the lack of innovation. My modest collection contains one of each. A Condor SS in .25 that thanks to installation of the Ring lock valve kit gets a very flat 70 shot string of 48 ftlbs with little Change in POI. Airforce guns rarely leak and the three that I have owned all do the standard Lothar Walther barrel proud. My old S510 with Walnut stock is as pretty as the most expensive, latest greatest from the competition, it has never leaked and is one hole accurate. I don’t think I will put either in the classifieds. I think it great that both of these manufacturers haven’t bent over backwards to make my guns look like last years junk on a yearly basis. It doesn’t hurt resale that they both still look current either. I do check the classifieds daily as many do feel the need for the latest, which makes for some great deals.

Really cheap China scopes, worth it?

Well... I have told that some Zasdar cheap scopes, are just china rebrands, and they get some praise (considering the price). we talk about 60/80 buck scopes.

It seems that I found a suspiciously EXACT model that cost 65/70 bucks in my country, for much cheaper in, what else... aliexpress:

Yeah yeah, I know its crap, I know it wont hold zero if I drop it and the optics blablabla... I know man... But I don't own any scope, cuz I'm more of a pistol guy and I like to shoot with open sights, so, for a initiation thingy to just play arround... is it worth it?

The most powerful thing I have is the Huben Gk1, I plan to make it a semy-carbine stock in 3D on the future, scopes takes less hard recoil from pcp, but the Gk1 is fairly powerfull... Im happy if this scope can just hold the zero on mid power recoil.

Umarex  Making a poormans AP16

Since Ataman AP16 is currently not available, my brother had me convert his Umarex Notos shorter, similar to an AP16. I cut the barrel down to 200mm, this allows for internal buffles to be used. I used 3 plastic cones from a marauder. It tunes it down but still a little loud for backyard use. I made a threaded end cap so he can add moderator if desired. The tank I only shorted 30mm and opened up inside of the end cap from 16mm to 22mm to gain back some volume. Shroud was also shortened along with the pic rail. AOL length is 350mm. It's doing 715 f/s with 14.3 CPHP. No loss in accuracy noticed at 32 yards.

Ratting and penetration

Hey all,
I have a question about caliber choice and over penetration when it comes to rats. I know that my HW 110 sending Baracuda match pellets at around 900 fps will zip right through rats at 25 yards and ricochet around off my fence. I also know that my 18 ft/lb Ultra MMC will not usually over penetrate a squirrel when I use Polymags at short distances 9under 30 yards). If I were looking to dump the most energy into a target, while minimizing pass throughs, it seems like the .22 is a better choice. However, I am looking to get a dedicated rat gun (night vision, magazine fed, compact, quiet) that might not love Polymags like my Ultra, so I want something that will dump energy quickly, so that if it does pass through, it will not have enough energy to damage stuff behind it. So, my question for the masses is this: am I better getting a 17-18 ft/lb .22, like the Notos, or should I lean more towards a .177 in the 12-13 ft/lb range, like the Brocock Atomic? Or do you have another suggestion?
Thanks,
Chris
