I am about to buy my 14 year old his first PCP air rifle, and would like a sanity check before I purchase everything for him. How about a thread mentioning new rifles and what you have to do to them? Most newbies think you take it out of the box and load up some ammo. Also what is some basic maintenance you have to do with what parts? Air guns are not like a Marlin 1894, where you get some Hoppes, run a patch thru it and load up some ammo.

Here's my pro500 I'm shooting in 25 cal. Bought it second hand on gunbroker. Couldn't say no to the wood on this one. It is doing well in the 25 to 100 yrd silhouette match we are shooting at Oklahoma city gun club.

Shooting distances are such that holding over is not working well for me so I’m going to be adding scope turret labels and dialing for extended range shooting.

I’ve always been a plinker/pester and setup my all airguns for the best “point blank range”. Near Zero was 17 to 20 yards, far Zero 38 to 42 yards and considering the accuracy and power at that time, this worked well for most of my shooting.

Now that airguns are accurate and powerful enough at distances well beyond a point blank range I need to be able to properly compensate for trajectory and I think that dialing and scope turret labels are the best approach.

I’ve seen videos with labels stuck all over the turrets, not knowing how they will fit on my scopes I’ve made up some vertical and horizontal text turret labels in various fonts, colors and sizes figuring that something should fit. The labels cover from 5 to 500 (vertical text) and 5 to 595 (horizontal text) which will (hopefully) cover the needs for anyone who wants to try the labels.

The label sheets are setup such that they can be printed and cut apart easily. I have 8.5x11 inch self-adhesive sheets (available from office supply stores) that I’ll be using but printing onto plain paper and using double-sided tape is also an option. I plan of protecting the labels with a layer of 3M clear “Magic Tape” once I’m done getting them positioned.

Research shows people using a ballistic calculator program to locate the labels on the turret. I’m not sure about that approach as the programs rely on the BC and the BC depends on other factors. I’m just going to sight in my airgun for each range and apply the label at that point.

I have attached print-ready PDFs of the labels in several colors. I could not attach the SVG source file, PM me if you want a copy. I used the “Inkscape” open source (freeware) program to create the label sheets. It’s a powerful program with a steep learning curve but doing something like a label is not overly challenging.

Anyway, attached are the files if you’re interested. I’m new to the idea of scope turret labels and would appreciate any feed-back or suggestions.

I think I know what's happening but wanted those more savvy to try and clue me in. Tuning the new Snowpeak M60B I'm having and issue with the hammer spring and velocity. As I bring the hammer screw up in tension (any amount at all like 1/4 turn) the velocity drops instantly. This is with the reg set at 120, 125, 130, 135, 140 bar etc. I know tension is CW and not reverse threading as the screw works into the rifle and cocking gets harder. Right now I have the hammer spring all the way out to get any results at all I like by only adjusting the reg to more air. I think the valve spring might be pretty weak or the hammer is bouncing and dumping too much air when increasing HS tension . Anyone either have this rifle or a better clue what's happening?

Hello, I've done a lot of reading over the years but just joined the group. I'm looking at getting 3 pcp rifles for my boys, ages 13-16. We have all been shooting my daystate for a few years and I'd like to get the boys their own rifles now. I've been looking at the options in the $400-$600 range. 2 of the boys are into squirrel and rabbit hunting but the rifles will mostly be used for target shooting competitions between the boys and myself. Looking at the aircuda or avenge x as possible options. What other options should I consider? Is the avenge x worth the extra cash? One of the boys likes the look of traditional rifles with wood stock, the other 2 like the coolness of the bull pup styles. What are the advantages of a bull pup vs traditional? I know these questions have been asked and I've spent countless hours reading but hoping to get some fresh opinions. Also considering a gx cs 4 compressor to fill the guns and any advice regarding compressors would be appreciated as well. Thank you all

Yesterday I went to a local gun shop that was closing out their airgun portion of the business. I was surprised when I got there and saw the place was basically empty of all airguns and firearms and accessories. Basically there were three Hawke scopes, some red dots, rings and pellets. i purchased a Hawke Airmax Compact SF 6-24-50 and 7 tins of pellets. With the closing discount, Black Friday discount and some points I had, I walked out only $124.00 dollars lighter. So basically I paid for the pellets and got the scope free.

I am lucky enough to be able to test the new Evol HPS. I am also willing to answer all questions I can. This one is setup with a pellet barrel making over 100 fpe shooting zan 56gr.

The new hps is a very cool new offering from American Air Arms.

Some off the cuff things I can say about features are

-Full external adjustability from reg, to dwell, to hammer spring.
-Slayer gen 3 balance valve
-Improve HST system, smooth as butter and extremely light while maintaining that robust feel A A A is known for.
-42cc Power plenum (on this particular model)

I topped this rifle with my Valdada Gen 2 Recon w/ 40mm tube and needless to say it's a beast atop this rifle but it STILL SHOULDERS EXTREMELY WELL.

I will be taking this rifle out later on today for initial thoughts as I only have 1 box of zans on hand but have 10 more on the way.

I also plan to bring this rifle way down in power with other ammo and test accuracy. The new setup is far more efficient than previous models I've been told and I plan to test that out.

Hi, my air Venturi 90ci bottle was leaking at regulator ck ball. Couldn’t find parts so I machined it to take new pin valve, piston and seat. That seals fine now. but need to set regulator output pressure at 2900psi. Bottle rated for 4500 and regulator stamped 2900. My problem is what is the order of the Belleville washers? I ordered new ones from car lane a set of 12 .032 and set of .047 thk but not getting higher then 2000psi with the .032’s haven’t tried .047’s yet. What’s the order for 3k output?

Anyone have any idea what's going on here? It is leaking air from the fill probe. And if I remove the probe it leaks from the hole where the probe goes in. It also does not hold pressure and cannot be filled at all. I have completely disassembled the tank and check all o-rings and made sure all threads were unmarred.
