Has Anyone tried Joe Wayne Rhea's method for gun stock refinishing?

Watched this video yesterday in the hopes of refinishing my Royale, walnut stock. I want a high gloss finish on it. Yes, I'm aware of how popular Tru Oil method is but Joe's method seems a lot less trouble free & results are better than Tru Oil imho. Anybody done this? Please let me know your results. TIA
P.S. I'm NOT an experienced woodworker but am a "jack of all trades".

I’m selling my Kral Arms Puncher Breaker .22, I’ve only shot about a 1000 pellets thru it. Need your opinion on a bullpup

Hello all,

I’m retiring in 2024 and want to get back into air gunning and I would like your opinion. I plan on purchasing a 25 cal. high end bullpup. I will be punching paper mostly as well as varmint hunting with
pellets or slugs. I don’t want a muzzle loader of a gun and want to keep the length between 34-36 inches. The bullpubs on my list are; Uragan 2 600mm, FX Maverick sniper 600mm, Kalibragun Cricket Tactical 60, FX Impact M3 600mm, and BRK Ghost. I hoping to find a gun that will give me great reliability, versatility, not complicated to run and accuracy.
Thank you,
WPM

Taipan  Taipan Veteran Alignment Issue

I discovered that my Taipan Veteran Standard was clipping my Sumo. Some research reveals that I likely have an alignment problem. I recently removed the barrel and I’m thinking that I didn’t follow the right procedure in putting everything back together. Any tips or recommendations for ensuring proper alignment? In particular with the six screws holding the air tube, barrel and picattiny; not sure if I need to follow a certain procedure or torque specs.

Reason for Selling: I'm ready to upgrade to something that can fill my range tank.

I am the original owner and this was purchased less than two years ago from AoA. It includes battery leads and jumper cables for in-field use. Also, it includes a service kit.

In case you are wondering, it takes about 15 minutes to fill a 480 bottle that isn't completely empty. It quickly fills FX Panthera 300 bar bottles and EVOL 30 4,500 PSI air tubes.

Local pick up at this time only. I'm located in Gilbert, AZ (South Phoenix).

Greetings from the Phoenix area. My latest pellet guns are Gamo Whispers in 22/177 calibers, I also own 2 P1 Beemans about 30 years old both 177 and .20 . A couple of Webley Tempest pistols and various other pellet guns. I have owned Beeman's R9,C1, and other products all springers or gas ram since the 1980s.

Taipan  Veteran regulator

Good morning, I am trying to lower my factory regulator down to 100 bar. Has anyone stacked the belleville washers in a different way to achieve this. Stacking them in the traditional way )()()()()()()()( only gets me down to approximately 120 bar with the adjuster turn all the way in. I will experiment a little today. I was just hoping someone had done this before to save me some air. Thanks all.

Diana  Little Late Black Friday Shopping in the Texas Hill Country

Part 1: Wanted another vintage target rifle so Kim and I could shoot them together. Stumbled on this, turns out seller lives in Austin. Met him halfway. Super nice guy. Sounds like he’s a friend of a couple y’all miscreants 😁. Excellent shape cosmetically. Came in original box with the original styrofoam container that says, “Modell 75”. And came with this manual. Wondering if this is the same manual @Northwoods22 has? Seller said he hasn’t shot it in years. The box had a Dynamit Nobel receipt from 2000 indicating a complete rebuild. Will shoot it tomorrow, see what it does, and go from there.

RAW Rapid  RAW HM 1000X .22

Hi Guys, tried out my new to me RAW .22 wow!! Wind permitting @ 25 mts some nice groups,up to 30 k wind gusts very trying.I love it can see me being hooked very quick. Need to know !! What is the regulator set at from the factory for the .22. Have been told not to go below that figure when shooting, I went from 250 bar to 150 after roughly 50 shots. Wanted to go to 50 mts but conditions did not allow that. cheers Mal in au.

Huben  GK1 - 21.53s and a few cans 🤫

I’ve been very impressed with this .22 pistol since getting it a few weeks ago. It’s done really well with a cheap red dot and heavily complemented with @M0ist0ne goodies (red dot mount, load-gate & fill port dust plug). I’ve tested some JSBs pellets and they have done very well. Many folks advised to try the JTS 21.53gr semi-domed, so I got some in. I went ahead and mounted a Athlon Talos to test accuracy at further distances.

I already have a Huggett mod that has done very well but does add about 4” to OAL. I got a Wylie Kanz mod in as well and gave it a whirl. Super short, very light and constructed really well. Fit and finish are impressive on this little guy!

The Wylie Kanz just about matched my Huggett moderator for hushing the report. That’s incredible. I love the look paired with the GK1.

The JTS 21.53s are definitely accurate in this Huben. I shot with both mods at 40 yards supported. 5-shot group on the left is with the Wylie Kanz and the right is the Huggett. Both can be covered with a dime. I’m gonna have to get a little carbine setup for this Huben and go hunting. It’s so fun as a pistol too. Can definitely put a smile on your face and also help hone your pistol shooting techniques. Oh, it shoots these JTS at 855 average for 19 shots. That’s 35 FPE in a tiny semi-auto accurate package people 🤯 Y’all hit @Bullysyclone up for more info on Wylie Kanz.

Beeman  My R7

Aloha gang!
So when I moved to Miami in 2007, I found an airgun shop on 8th St. called Sunshine Airguns. I got to be good friends with the owner. Met a famous airgun writer (been reading his stuff since the late 70s) and he brought some very interesting toys. So I picked up a used R7 and then I got a Macarri kit for it. My friend had a guy to put it in and it sat in his shop for 2 months. So I researched the process and decided to do it my self. Came out great and got me hooked! So over the next couple years I got a new stock and some brass bling for this ultimate rat gun! In 2017 I was staying with my cousin in Vegas. He had a rat problem...an understatement for sure! Best night I got 15. There was a abandoned house down the block and the rats used the cement walls that separated the houses as a highway. Just baited them with fruit and peanut butter..what ever we had. Couldn't shoot them on the top of the wall as they might fall in the neighbor's yard and ... problems. As soon as the rat poked his head down looking at the bait...headshot and done. Quiet and super accurate.
Here is how it looked when I got it.
R7 before.jpg

The custom stock.....I found a guy and he made the most beautiful stock! Adjustable butt pad also! I had him bring in the pistol grip as the HW's have a long stretch to the trigger. Rosewood grip cap. This was his first try at stippling!

Results  Ultimate Field Target At PRGC, 11/25/23 Match Report

Monthly winter Ultimate Field Target matches at Phoenix Rod and Gun club have resumed for the 2023/2024 winter season! Matches have historically been on the 4th Saturday of the month and we're back to that now.

9 shooters came out today to work off the turkey calories, 6 in pellet class, 2 slug shooters, and 1 competed with rimfire.

Ben and gang set the course a bit different this month. 8 shooting stations, 3 targets at each station, 2 shots per target, so a possible 48 point match. Overall Troyer for the course worked out to a 33. There was a wide range of targets this month, the easiest was a 2.5" kill zone at 43 yards for a T of 17.2. The highest T was a 1.25" kz @ 56 yards (T of 50.4). There were a couple of 2.5" kill zones past 80 yards also. In the past, those 80+ targets have usually been 3" kill zones.

The average guess for the max wind speeds of the shooters who texted me was 10-12mph.

I was surprised to see new record all-match scores in the pellet and slug class. And even the rimfire shooter was only one shot shy of tying the previous rimfire record (I think the current rimfire record score is a 47/48).
  • The previous all-match pellet record was a 45/48, shot by Mike S, using the .22/25.4 Monster RD.
    • The new record is a 46/48, shot by Ben S today, using the .25/34 grain pellets
  • The previous all-match slug record was a 38/40, shot just last month by Thayne S, using H&N .22/34gr slugs.
    • The new record is a 47/48, shot by Peykan B today, using the .22/34 grain Patriot slugs.
I listed the misses where reasonable to do so.
2023-11-25_19h09_22.jpg

Interesting to note that one of Dan's misses was a bad .22 round, hitting away from the hold point, on a good trigger pull and on a nice big 2" kill zone at only 45 yards. His other miss was a wind misread.

Really cool to see such high scores, and on a course with a decent difficulty factor! On the other side of the coin though, we STILL haven't seen a perfect score at a long range/high power field target match at PRGC. With guys getting sooo close, I think we'll see that 1st perfect score soon. Will it be in pellet, slug, or rimfire?

Peykan and his Kentucky long rifle. I think the key to his new record is that he can just poke the paddle through the kill zone with his moderator on all the shots. That gun is so long it doesn't even fit in the photo.

Much thanks to PRGC for hosting these field target matches, to the match director, and to all the helpers.

For anyone within driving distance of Phoenix, you are in a position many airgunners in the country envy (driving distance to high power/long range field target events). And on top of that, very few places nationwide are allowing rimfire and slugs to compete in field target. You can do that right here at PRGC.

Air Venturi  Kid's X-mas gift sanity check

I am about to buy my 14 year old his first PCP air rifle, and would like a sanity check before I purchase everything for him. This is also my first adventure into PCP air rifles but I have been lurking and reviewing PCP rifle information for a few months. Please let me know if I am missing anything, or if I should look at other items; used is OK as well. I intend to buy:

1. Air Venturi Avenger .25 cal, synthetic stock, everyone has them for $350, so will probably buy it from Amazon (easy returns if it is a lemon)

For newbies 1st rifle

How about a thread mentioning new rifles and what you have to do to them? Most newbies think you take it out of the box and load up some ammo. Also what is some basic maintenance you have to do with what parts? Air guns are not like a Marlin 1894, where you get some Hoppes, run a patch thru it and load up some ammo.
