NEW ZAN Projectiles Sample Box

Hello,

Since you often ask us for samples of our slugs we produced sample boxes in all popular calibers
Samples are available in .177, .217, .218, .250 and .300 calibers.
Each box contains all the weights we produce of a certain caliber.

Some stores in Europe already have them in stock, and for the rest they are available on our WebSite

Have a good day,

Shonuf and That'lldo - showdown

Recently i encountered two AGN members (shonuf and that'lldo ) competing in a battle of wits over whose method of scope mounting and centering is best.
I hereby throw down the gauntlet and challenge both said AGN members to show up at high noon 10 Nov 2023 at the Santa Rosa Shooting center in Pensacola Florida, where we will remove their scopes from their airguns of choice; afterwareds we will then allow them to remount, recenter, re-level, realign, said scopes to said bore of said airgun using their proclaimed method of "best way to mount and center a scope" after which, Shonuf and That'lldo will be required to shoots 40 rounds from their airguns:
10 rounds at 25 yards
10 shots at 50 yards
10 shots at 75 yards
10 shots at 100 yards.
Scoring will be done according to NBR standards and the looser will be required to buy all of AGN's members a cold beverage of their choice at the nearest local tavern.
Failure of either party to show by high noon, tomorrow. friday, will by default, mean the other parties method was better.
If both members fail to show it means that we must always remember that sometimes it is better to be happy than to be right.
Yes - humor intended.

Coloured Shims

I was thinking the other day what an arse it is for shims sizing identification. Toying with the idea of getting some samples made up for testing as I'm not sure how the aluminium / anodized material would hold up to the grinding of gears. Nothing complicated 0.1mm, 0.2mm, 0.3mm and 0.5mm all different colours.

Think it's worth a punt? Would you be excited to use colour-coded shims? Few other solutions like laser etching but so hard to see for those of us who need old man glasses ;) not to mention more expensive.

My apologies and I feel much better!

First, my apologies to anyone I may have offended recently. I sincerely apologize.

Second, I got tired of not being able to shoot in the daylight hours, so I put a black mark on a cinder block in my backyard at ~25 yards.

And under my flood lights, which barely allow me to get a good focus with the Athlon Argos BTR 8-34, I took one shot and that black mark was erased. (smile)

I feel MUCH better!

Unfortunately, I have to endure at least one more day of *mod edit - removed racist comment* making noise in my backyard finishing up what should have been done last week replacing the city sewer lines. Don't call me a bigot. I am not. I am an American. Born and raised!

Sorry for the mini-rant, but I am tired and sick and tired.

All my best!

Kerry

Got another one hooked

I've been talking to guys at work about airguns the last couple months. They enjoy shooting, so were interested. They were amazed at the capabilities of modern pcp's. Tuesday we spent 4 hours clearing trees from a river. After we got done we went to his place to shoot my rifles. He is used to shooting PB's. He admitted each time he looked through the scope he was tensing some and anticipating the recoil and sound. It took him a while to get used to not having it. We kept watching for squirrels to shoot but none showed up.

We shot till dark. I had some old ft targets to shoot at but no way to anchor them so we could reset them without getting up. He kept commenting how relaxing and peaceful shooting it was. Especially after a day of work. We were plinking knots on a stump, small twigs etc. We ran through a tank of air on the redwolf. He remarked how gorgeous it was. He kept asking more and more questions like how to get setup with one etc. Hes seriously looking at getting a pcp now. As he said it has all the pro's of shooting with none of the cons.

The team is likely going to get together at a guys house to go through the equipment as we wind down for the winter. After we are done we will be doing another shooting session. They already told me to bring my rifles. I will likely get a couple more hooked during that time.

Beeman  My favorite martian

Doned my best tin foil hat and figured I'd better prep for the up coming alien invasion

After the 5th shot the lil'booger used some kinda wind weapon that pushed my shots off so I stopped at 8 .

Now I don't know the exact date of there arrival, but mark my words I'll be ready to fend them off .

Edit..

Decided I best throw caution to there wind weapon and blast a few extra at him.. no telling how many they can teleport down at once .

Seems I had a maiming hit or 2..🤤

Tuning  The Mamba project.. .25 cal Tomahawk

This is the Mamba. It’s a custom built Uk Tommy that I built. It’s a shell of the original gun. It came about while experimenting on 27 mm tubed long stroke guns. I was playing with a 110 to 115 mm stroked 27 mm sleeved 30 mm tubes to retain the long spring stack for max power.
That testing wasn’t all in vain as I did get some big power from 27 mm LS guns . They were not without their faults. The things that were good I reimplemented into a standard Uk Tommy tube with a custom made piston and seal as well as a bespoke spring set up.
The port was meticulously worked over to get the power yet remain lenier in it’s shot cycle
the gun was tested in .22 and was generating 24 ft lbs but was a bit snappy. These are 7.5 lb guns. I detuned it to a peaceful 20 ft lbs. I was bored one day and ,,,,,, Out of curiosity I changed to a .25 barrel and lightning struck. It retained the same 20 ft lb set up in 22 but actually picked up power and a much better shot cycle.. It’s at 22 ft lbs with 25.3 jsb exacts. Or 23.5 ft lbs with 20 grain ftt.

That being said ,while testing the accuracy,I sighted in the 25.3 first and NEVER ,have any of my guns shot this quickly to kill.
The first attempt at 66 yards down hill was a head shot on a fox squirrel 🐿 .. witnessed by two friends at a job site. I fallowed up with a 47 yard grey squirrel 🐿 . By know I look like a sniper as I walked away like it’s the norm as they were a gaw with shock a pellet gun can be this deadly .. This was first kill, down to the right of that garbage can ,right of the wheel you can see the tail curled up ..

I have not tried sighting innthe 20 trainers yet.

The Mamba
FD80F990-E348-480D-957B-C4D3B913C9A2.jpeg

It’s a fully shrouded design like most of my guns with short 13 inch barrel , the shroud has collectors .
The unique bronze finish was done as it was designed for hunting and looks
If you look it’s a blackish bronze satin finish I made up over a multi bead blasted prep..

Of course it has my own stock with the traditional Tommy lines but much better fit, with a custom rollover. The Checkering is skip line with a nice claro walnut wood.

Air Venturi  Air Venturi Avenger Pellet Probe broke.

Less then 200 rounds on a Air Venturi Avenger and my pellet probe broke. I wasn't even using a magazine just the single shot block. (The small pin on the front is missing, took me at least a few shots to notice.)

Is this unheard of? I can't find any Pellet Probes for sell even though I found out the P/N is 000P1-084-W-00. I bought it from amazon who says I can't return it.
What are my options? Send it back to Air Venturi and pay for it to be fixed?

The little .177 that could!

I’ve just uploaded a rather inspirational video about my little Elly. I’ve called it “The little .177 that could!” 😂😂😂

Also just uploaded a video showcasing her work a few days ago.

I finally got my head around adding some back ground music too. Each persons taste in music is quite a personal thing, but let me know what you think about it.

Here are the links if you are interested…

Dependable Portable Air Compressors

I sold all my PCP rifles and pistol about 3-4 years ago. I loved the guns (Steyr), but I could not tolerate the terrible lack of dependability of my Omega Turbo Compressor. The dive shop to fill my carbon tank was a 70 mile round trip and I had to drop the tank off and come back to get it. Huge nuisance.

So, I'm down to a few replica CO2 shooters and my favorite air rifle, Air Arms TX 200.

I am thinking about getting a PCP again, but I'd have to also have a compressor. I just read the Outdoor Life review by air rifle legend, Jim Chapman. Can anyone recommend something that I can fill directly to the firearm that is easy to maintain and operate and less than $1,000? The Nomad III is intriguing, but...?
Thanks
Roy

N/A  Time travel, to buying your first PCP

Most of us went down the PCP trail and haven’t left. We just buy more.

I see a number of posts about people inquiring about certain rifles and it being their first PCP. How about a thread where we say what we wish we bought first, it might even be what we bought.

1. What do you wish you bought at the time? Try and remember the year.

2. If you had all the knowledge you have since entering the PCP universe, what would you buy now if it was your first PCP.

1. I bought an original FX Royale 400 22 cal. unregulated, aluminum tank. I wish I never sold it.

2. Today I would try and find a used Daystate Huntsman or a new one. If it was a tighter budget, probably an Air Venturi Avenger.

Thanks guys and ladies.

Tuning  Would you consider this an accurate rifle?

I've been working on two 20 cal barrels for a couple of months here and there. This is one fitted to a Red Wolf.
20231108_163612.jpg
20231108_163035.jpg
20231108_162902.jpg

The first pic is 6 - 5 shot groups @30 yds w 13.7s and 5 - 5 shot groups w 15.89s. The center group on the left was first so I took a couple of clicks off and all remaining are from the same zero. The top left shot was 1st after the scope adjustment but hold was in the same place. The 13.7s are sub 20 ft lb. The 15.89s are about 30 ft lb. I did not hold for wind in any group but was a fairly light breeze.
The second pic is @ 50 yds with 15.89s. I shot 3 below the target to find holdover, then group of 5.
The third pic is @ 100 yds w 15.89s. I shot 5 off the target to find holdover, then group of 5.
So basically- its 73 consecutive shots with only one I'd consider a flier but maybe two or three that are outliers.
What do you think?
Bob

Custom parts.

If anyone ever needs something made that's obscure, not in stock or just a one-off part, let me know. I can make pretty much anything that you need, plenums, hammers, extensions, drop blocks, hpa conversions, etc... I even make balance valves that can replace the standard poppet valve. Also, barrels, probes, etc...

In some cases I may need really good dimensions or blueprints but could also need the part that's needing replaced or the whole gun. I own and run a gunsmithing business so I can be verified as being legit because I see how there's apparently a problem in the airgun industry with scammers.

Tuning  Baby Steps

I finally slowed down and decided not to rush my tuning procedure. My Impact M3 was out of tune and I just couldn't seem to get it in tune and balanced (VA, hammer, etc.) I was getting close but it wasn't consistent. Then I remembered something Steve Scialle said in his tuning video - make small adjustments. At the end I made two small adjustments - two clicks on the micro adjuster and 1/6th turn opn the valve adjuster and - VOILLA! Results below. The red dot is 3/4" so result the was about .79 MOA. Lesson learned - BABY STEPS! The attached pdf shows the results. BTW - this was short range test - about 35 yards.
